Great game, great series. How many times have the Cards and Tigers met in the Series? A bunch I'll bet. Go Tigers.

Bunch of bums? Apparently you don't know the Tigers. They have a terrific team, terrific pitching, outfield, infield, catcher. Leyland has them peaking again at the right time after an incredible year.

Sounds like you've gotten over the first baseball strike. Good for you. Now go out and get tickets to the WS and enjoy the best game ever invented.

Nice spending time with you on the LIVE thread this evening.

FReegards,
Z

I saw so many Mets fans praying watching the game. I didn't know NY was so faithful. There must be some baseball god I don't know about.

I wasn't able to do the live thread tonight--between actually watching the game and taking care of my daughter (the wife is out of town), I wasn't able to keep up with it. But I'll probably show up on some of the live threads for the Series.

I was a young lad at the time and really into baseball. I collected baseball cards and my dad took us to a lot of White Sox games at old Comiskey. It was big deal when Denny McLain won 31 games in 1968.

The Year of the Tiger in 1968 was also the Year of Denny McLain. He's shown here winning his 30th game Sept. 14, 1968.

Down go the Mutts! Yeah!

Although I do feel a bit for Willie Randolph.

Nice win by the Cards. Was rooting HARD for the Metropolitans to win but alas it wasn't to be.
GREAT GAME 7---5 years from now any baseball fan will remember it still. Those who don't must be a DUmmy!!!!!
Endy Chavez had the catch OF THE YEAR, or this is at least a 5-1 win. How awesome was that!!!!!
Speaking of awesome, great pitching by Jeffs, Suppan and Weaver. GOOD STUFF, no doubt!!!!!

I'm not rooting against the Cards but I'm thinking Detroit is just a bit too much better offensively. They can mash at will, it seems. The week off didn't hurt either, as Sean Casey and their flamethrower, Zumaya got a chance to get healthy.

If STL steals one in Detroit, it goes 6, Tigs winning 4-2. If not Tigs win in 5(they're that DAMN good right now).

We'll see it play out, ENJOY!!!!!!

well played. Almost glad it was the Traitor who struck out with the bases loaded. Seriously, how does he do nothing there? Way to choke, Beltran.

Terrifically played series. Enjoy the WS. Maybe the NL will win a game this time around!

"He's shown here winning his 30th game Sept. 14, 1968."

I reported to San Diego Boot Camp on Sept. 18th, 1968 and for the next nine weeks, I was out of touch with the world as I underwent my primary and advanced naval training.

I made it home for Christmas that year, 55 lbs. lighter and bursting with pride in my new dress blues.

It looks like it's going to be a great World Series. Tonight's game was great!

Blast from the past!

Tigers will chomp the little birdies like they did in '68 and '35. (I remember the '68 Series)

You just wait... Google is still searching... But I'll find that picture of a cardinal scratching the eyes out of a tiger.

Somewhere in a photo album I have a photo of one of my cats with his fur stripped off of his spine by a pair of nesting mockingbirds. With the stripe he looked like a skunk!

I consider myself lucky to have been able to watch and root for the Tigers in 68, 84, (87) and now 2006.
