Final score:
Cardinals: 3
Mets: 1
I agree RE 1968.
Look at all the Hall of Famers involved in that game. Just killer!
And, we got to witness the last 30-game winner EVER in the MLB.

Just found this from the Detroit News:
Ex-Tigers Al Kaline and Willie Horton, accompanied by Tigers owner Mike Ilitch, will throw out the first pitch at Game 1. Former Tigers manager Sparky Anderson will throw out the first pitch at Game 2.
Also,
The Detroit Tigers will get a little help working on their "Night Moves" Saturday night when Bob Seger performs "America the Beautiful" prior to Game 1 of the World Series at Comerica Park.
Fellow Detroiter Anita Baker will perform the National Anthem before Game 2 on Sunday. Major League Baseball officials made both announcements late Thursday.
That means, no Jose Feliciano.

USAToday has Trammel tossing Game 1. HAH! I don't trust 'em anyway (any more than I trust the Detwah Snooze).
At least the Free Press has an acceptabel nickname.
FABULOUS selection for G1! So many great acts I'd like to see sing the Anthem and 7th inning "patriotic pause".
Probably.
But hark! Back in Atlanta, Bobby Cox has quietly reloaded with a lot of talent. Maybe the Mets can achieve Wild Card status.
As correct as you are on many other matters.
Gee, what makes me think I wouldn't have heard from you on this subject had the outcome been different?
Here's what's funny. You obviously pride yourself as a deep thinker. You threw out you little "president's veto power" response and when I pointed out the stupidity of your statement you come up with this. I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. I figured your original statement--you know, the one about hoping the Democrats take over--was just something you said that really wasn't very well thought out. But everything else you've said since has been extremely sophomoric. So, I'm led to believe--and rightfully so--that my original assessment of you was overly flattering. It's abundantly clear you're just not that bright. But, you are a "doofus". So you were right about that one.
Mark Twain once said, "Better to appear to be a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Trust me, pal. You've removed all doubt.
I rest my case.
