I don't think Oracle wants to be in the OS business, but sooner or later somebody is going to find the right formula in offering a real alternative to the heavy-handedness of Microsoft.
And the author is right....why in the world would someone try to buy an existing Linux company when they could do it themselves on the cheap?
At some point, someone is going to put some air beneath the wings of Linux and come up with the right formula. Some of the distros I'm starting to see now are almost there, but it's going to take a major player in a serious effort to get it off the ground. Time will tell I suppose.
Reasons to buy:
1) Support infrastructure
2) Development team running
3) Name Recognition
