A run of the install disks back in the early 1990s or late 1980s were infected by the WDEF virus.

Wasn't that the cover disk on MacWorld? I think it was.

Perhaps you're right, in which case Apple's never done this before... But for some reason, I remember it being a copy of OS 6.x install floppies being infected, but I may be mistaken about them being originals.

I do remember the MacWorld cover disc being infected, but I remember that as a separate event that occurred later.
