Are you talking really local to Hagerstown? Unfortunately, I don't know much at all once you get to Frederick.
But Frederick has Mt. Olivet, which you can see from 70 and isn't far from the baseball stadium. We've been there too (that was when I became Pres; the Rose Hill was near the end of my tenure).

"If anything, this is a story of "stupid cat"!"
Actually it is a story of a "stupid person" that burns candles in such a dangerous place. Let this be a warning to all FReepers that candles are dangerous and fires spread very quickly.

That is why I have resorted to a candle warmer these days. With kids and cats it is the best thing I ever bought!

I used to be on res hall staff at my U. We would show a video that depicted a fire started by a candle in a dorm room. It was a real fire in a mock room, the fire was started by a candle when the curtains blew into the flame. The rate of spread and the heat was astonishing. It was a real eye opener for the incoming freshmen.

Have camera; will travel....:)
Which ball field?
The "Harry Whoever" ball field [can't recall his last name...LOL!] one near Wal*Mart and Costco?
I'll go quite a distance for really great old graveyards.
I'd be grateful for any leads you can give me.
It's not too early to start planning motorcycle trip/photo shoots for next summer....:)
[feel free to FReepmail me to protect the locations and safety of the cemeteries, if you want]

Thanks for your condolences!
I don't know what to do with all my free time, I had plans to be in front of the TV all through October!

My company puts me up in Rockville (Gaitherburg actually) when I am working in DC. If there is a more boring place in the lower 48, I don't want to know about it.

Oh they are marvelous. I bought mine in Walmart. I leave it on all the time. It is on the kitchen counter away from small hands and animals. The candle melts to a liquid so you do loose the wick and won't be able to burn it anymore. It stays clean looking and smells great.

I believe they will go all the way and quite quickly. They will be well rested that's for sure!

Tell me about it!
First of all, this woman is disabled, and at even greater risk.
Secondly, I caught my loft window sill on fire (in my brand new house!) last year because I thought I had blown a candle out before going to bed. The charred area is covered by a pretty doiley ;)
I learned my lesson.
Sadly, to my eternal embarrassment, it's something that gets pointed out to new students by older ones when asked about my tendency to get distracted and forget things.

My mom gave me a beeswax candle in glass container shaped like a beehive.
I asked her how in the world I was supposed to burn the crazy thing so she handed me an extra candle warmer she wasn't using.
It does melt the wax and *so far*, the wick is still intact....probably because of the very odd shape of the container.
I do burn other fruit and spice scented candles the normal way but I have no cats and *usually* my dogs stay off of the table tops.....;-D

The new "jar candles" are great.
The come in various styles [I love the Mason jar types] and have lids.
When you're done burning it or about to leave the room, you just screw the lid back on and no worries about the flame not being completely snuffed.

Thanks!
This candle happened to be a very pretty hand me down from my mother (one of those ornate, twisty layered things).
It's gone now!!

Does the Beehive has a scent?
I have a candle fetish it is terrible. I can't stop buy the large jars. Next I am heading for the Christmas scents!
