I also recall playing the old shareware Duke Nukem and Commander Keen.

My wife drove me nuts playing those- still have the floppies ( from Garland, Texas... Scott Miller? ) around here.

My first computer in 1994 was a Packard Bell with 4 mg ram and 300 mg hard drive,

I remember those Packard-Bell white/gray boxes. They were all over the place.
I had my first computer in 1980. It was an Atari 800 with 64KB of RAM with an external 5.25" floppy drive that loaded DOS from disk before you could do anything. A hard drive? That was the stuff of dreams.
The best programs though...came on the cartdidges that plugged in to the console. Star Raiders! I still have it in my basement in a box somewhere.

The best, esp Billie Blaze as Commander Keen. Invested hours in the three episodes and finished them all. Remember in the Pyramids? In the last pyramid, you had to entice twelve inch worms over a bridge and then they converted to a foot that transported you to the secret level.

heehee

The first computer we had was an IBM PCjr. All those DOS commands, that brings back memories.

We used to sit around and play King's Quest all the time. You had to actually write out what you wanted to do in command lines, and the little dude was made up of like twelve pixels.

Funny.

I remember the terms "internet" and "information super highway" being used ala VHS vs Beta. I'm guessing "internet" won out because Algore invented that one.
