Hunting boar is a dangerous sport. The boar spear, which has a crosspiece part way up the shaft, was invented because an enraged boar was notorious for charging, impaling himself on the spear, and then coming right up the shaft and killing the spear man.

We had a case of a boar killing a bear, here in North Carolina. They can range from 400 - 600 lbs. Very dangerous critters.

I once knew a guy who hunted boar. He told me that you had better kill it with the first shot cause by the second it will kill you.
