I have never eaten the beans on toast but love the traditional pork/beans from can. There is a vegetarian line that is very tasty and inexpensive. I will try it sometime. Yours is toasted bread? butter atop or just the beans? is it eaten like a piece of toast w/hands or with knife & fork?

Beans on toast is typical English comfort eating when people do not fancy a meal but need something filling and some protein.

We just toast the bread, some people butter others not; heat the beans in saucepan or microwave and pour over the top. Eat with knife and fork if with fingers you would need to cut up first and put less beans on top otherwise it would be make mess. If you like Worcester sauce a sprinkle of that on top is good

We also serve tinned spaghetti in tomato sauce this way either the short strands or the hoops/rings. We also have shaped spaghetti in tins depicting cartoon characters or letters of the alphabet which are designed for children (and some adults :0).

We tend you do quite a lot of things on toast I suppose it is the English version of the pizza but plainer.

Egg on toast (poached or scrambled again nice with Worchester sauce or slice of tomato - if tomato pop back under grill (broiler to soften tomato).

Cheese on toast (either a cheese sauce or sliced or grated cheese) Toast bread one side complete turn over lightly toast then add cheese, put back under grill (broiler) to crisp and brown cheese slightly. Worchester sauce and or tomato on top again is nice.

Of course a starter to a meal that is popular in Britain is Pate on toast. Brown bread toasted cut into small triangles butter and pate added at the table by yourself.
