In 1995, Mr. T was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma cancer at the age of 43. The disease eventually went into remission.
In 2005, after seeing the effects of Hurricane Katrina, Mr. T announced he would never wear his chains again, saying they were "an insult to God", and donated clothing and money to Katrina victims.
A reality television show for TV Land, I Pity the Fool is scheduled to premiere October 11, 2006. The announced six-episode series finds him assisting those in need.
As of 2006, Mr. T lives in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California. He is a born-again Christian. He mentioned on the Howard Stern Show in October 2006 that he had become a grandfather and that his cancer was still in remission, although he was still receiving preventative medical treatment.
Although he seems pretty easy to poke fun at, I have really come to admire Mr. T. He's no fool.
Any man who puts God first, loves his country, and helps out those in need, need to be admired.
He is further to the right than Bill Cosby on criticizing black culture today, however, he is so much more Christ-like in dealing with them....i.e. he gets his hands dirty.
Definitely going to watch this show!
I saw some of the clips from his show on the TVLand website. He's always been a cutie, and it should be a fun show.
Gosh, I remember when he was terribly controversial because he yelled, "FOOL!" at people. How times have changed!

I think most TV, movie, music and general celebrity discussion ends up in Chat.
This is not a discussion, its an announcement that is bringing attention to a rarity, a black, conservative, Christian TV show, that just has the coolness of being so....80s.
Mods can post to chat AFTER it comes on at 10PM PST....sheesh.
There are threads posted in Chat today that have over 100 replies. I think it's time you update your reality.

I've had threads moved to the Smoky Backroom and they were on legitaimate news topics. However, they were the type of stories that attracted, shall we say, extreme comments!
Don't fret my fellow Catholic School FReeper. TV Land shows, regardless of their quality, just doesn't rank up there in importance.
Bears repeating, also....adendum....and posting Christian-themed announcements to Chat. Just go look at your announcement list and ask why this one shouldnt stay there for a few hours?

As you can see, the Mods are not consistant and irregular. What is an announcement to one MOD is chat to another.
To me, this should be an announcement for Fellow Christian Freepers that like non MSM tv shows (esp with humor). If the Mods want this moved to Chat, they can move it after the 10 pm PST show airs on the west coast.
Rant mode off.
An announcement to me is dissiminaiton of information which I find Freeper-like, or geared towards conservatism (do unto others and do the right thing).
My intention is to not discuss the show, but to ANNOUNCE that a NEW SHOW is coming online that many people may not be aware of....just doesn't have the "chat" feel to it for me.

I don't speak for management but I always understood that announcements were just what you copied in your reply above. Not to announce TV shows.
When Jim created the separate forums he created a lot of special topics for stories he knew many wanted to post, but that did not belong in the FReerepublic news category.
I think your announcement of a aTV show, regardless of content, rightly belongs in the chat - tv/movies forum.

LOL I just checked, one was posted 10 mins ago...not in chat.....all Im saying is MODS are NOT consistant.
Thanks though for your .02....its more valuable than the $20.00-50.00 than FR usually gets (but wont) from me each quarter.
