DURHAM -- A CBS "60 Minutes" segment on the controversial Duke University lacrosse rape case is expected to air Sunday evening and will include interviews with all three indicted players and Kim Roberts Pittman, the second dancer at the party where the attack allegedly occurred.
CBS would not comment on the show. The network's normal practice is to withhold information about "60 Minutes" broadcasts until a few days in advance.
But Pittman's lawyer, Mark Simeon of Durham, confirmed Tuesday that his client was interviewed. But Simeon ended a telephone conversation before fielding a question about what Pittman told the interviewer.
An exotic dancer at the time, Pittman was with another dancer who claimed she was raped and sodomized by three lacrosse players during an off-campus party at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. in mid-March.
Pittman since has been quoted as saying the rape charges were "a crock." She also told police in a March 22 handwritten statement that she and the accuser ended their performance when someone at the lacrosse party "brought out a broomstick and ... said he would use the broomstick on us."
"That statement made me uncomfortable and I felt like I wanted to leave," Pittman added. "I raised my voice to the boys and said the show was over."
Pittman said she then asked the alleged rape victim to leave the party with her. But she said the accuser "felt we could get more money and that we shouldn't leave yet."
According to Pittman, the accuser "began showing signs of intoxication" early in the dance performance and was "basically out of it" by the time it ended.
Pittman finally drove the other dancer to a Hillsborough Road grocery store, from which a 911 call was placed to police.
There is nothing about an alleged rape in Pittman's written statement, which is included in public-record court files.
All three defendants also were interviewed for the "60 Minutes" segment, sources told The Herald-Sun. The interviewer is veteran reporter Ed Bradley.
The three -- Collin Finnerty, Reade Seligmann and David Evans -- remain free under $100,000 bonds as they await a trial that is expected to occur next year. Each maintains he is innocent.
Neither they nor their families could be reached Tuesday for possible comment about the CBS show, and their attorneys had no comment.
Defense lawyers apparently will not appear on the television program. Neither will District Attorney Mike Nifong, who has been widely criticized for allegedly rushing to judgment in the case and making inflammatory public statements before he had sufficient evidence.
For the past four months, Nifong has not discussed the situation publicly. He was out of town on business and unreachable for comment Tuesday.
Benjamin Himan and Mark Gottlieb, police investigators in the lacrosse case, also could not be reached. But sources said the two had not been interviewed by "60 Minutes" as of Friday.
The Police Department repeatedly has declined to discuss the lacrosse incident.
It could not be determined Tuesday if a one-time driver for the alleged rape victim, Jarriel Lanier Johnson, was among those Bradley contacted.
"I have nothing to say about it," Johnson told The Herald-Sun by telephone before hanging up.
But Johnson gave police an April 6 handwritten statement about an "appointment," "a job" and a performance the accuser had at three different hotels in two days not long before the alleged rape.
Johnson also said she had sexual intercourse with him during the same time period.

There is no time discrepancy. Careful reading of Kim's statement indicates that Kim left the bathroom, Precious followed her to the car, then left to "make more money," according to Kim.
Here is the part in the end

So, clearly, Precious came to the car and then left.That must have been around 12:20, when she came to the car, and around 12:30, when she tried to go back. Then, she either fell or passed out on the stairs.
After that, boys helped her to the car.
Well, to be fair, Kim did make it confusing, because she forgot to mention ....

W went to Priscilla’s to purchase an outfit for the evening and proceded to get ready for the night. I left 1602 Albany Street and headed toward Buchanon where I arrived at about 11 p.m. I spoke to Dan F. and was told that this was not a bachelor party but a get together amongst friends. They told me that they were on a sports team and were all Grad students at Duke.

At about 11:30 Precious arrived and came to the back where we met for the first time. I waited outside and she went inside to collect her money. She showed me her payment ($400.00) and we went straight to the bathroom where my outfit was to change clothes. Precious came w/ her dancing gear on and did not need to change.
We conversed about our plan for the dance. There was a knock on the door and we were handed too drinks of equal amounts. We did sip the drinks but Precious’ cup fell into the sink. We finished getting dressed and proceeded to the living room, led by Dan to do our show. There were about

I went to my car wanting to leave, but not wanting to leave the girl in the house alone. I changed my clothes in the car where some of the boys were coming to my window asking me to talk to them. I was told by one of the guys that Precious was passed out in the back and could I please do something with her. By this point it seems that the fellas may have been ready for the evening to be over. I told them that if they could get her to my car, I would get her out of their hair. Within minutes, She was being helped out of the back yard and into my car. asked her if she had the most important thing her money. She told me yes but she did not seem coherent. She then told me that we should go back to the house because there was more money to be made there. I asked her again where her things were and she said “Here” “It’s here”. But I did not see here things so in my opinion, she was talking crazy, I made an attempt to get her things, I took my belongings, locked her in my car and went back up to the house to try and retrieve her bag. I looked around w/ Dan and we didn’t see anything so I said I’ve done all I could and went back to my car. I finally began leaving and the boys began yelling ‘Nigger” to us. I called the police to report racial slurs.

basically out of it. I tried to ask her where she lived but she would not tell me. I tried calling Melissa to get a hold of the driver that dropped her off but received no assistance from her. I decided to go to the 24 hr grocery store and seek the help of an off duty police officer. Only a security guard was there, so we proceeded to call 911. A couple of cars came out and the dragged her from my car after trying to wake her up with smelling salts. They tried to talk to her and ask questions but the only thing she would mutter was no. She obviously did not want to leave my car. The police said they would look out for her, take care of her, and that she was in no trouble at all. I then drove back to 1602 Albany Street where my night was over

The point in time where I went to get Precious’ things from the house, I walked to the back of the house thru the side of the house outside. I enter the house from the outside from a back door. I looked in the bathroom to retrieve her things but could not find them. I exited the house the same way I came in, along the side of the house to my car without finding any of her items

I hope Sunday night's show focuses on Nifong's refusal to hear from the accused prior to indictment. I think that's the most damaging given all the evidence Seligmann tried to show him.

Pittman AND Mangum create reasonable doubt-- coupled with no physical evidence it's evident this case should never be brought to trial. Hopefully Nifong is gone in Nov and so's this case. These boys deserve their lives back.
I read somewhere that there won't be much more from Kim then what was shown already. Have no idea what else they have in store for us. I hope they walk Reade through his alibi and have him go through the evidence Nifong refused to look at.
I agree he makes good points. It's just that I don't think he is the best person to be talking about this particular case, considering.
I believe you. I understand things smell pretty bad in Kansas City, too. In view of what your son went through, your perspective is understandable. I sincerely hope something good breaks for him soon. I simply wanted to make you aware that what happened to him and the attitude that prevailed does not represent most of LE.

That's awful. Why did she (your ex) do that? I take it the custody change was a separate action she filed for in your civil (divorce) case?
Well. I think them being rats has a great deal to do with it. Look at Louisiana, New Jersey, Chicago, Seattle - all rat-run and teeming with corruption. I know the list is longer - that's just a couple. Most urban areas in the country are rat-run, and that's where these things happen the most by far. When it's a city like Chicago, because it is the only really large city in the state, it is the powerhouse that dictates the policies and tolerance for corruption all the way into state government.
CG, I know it's a filthy, rotten scam, and have echoed your words with regard to this case many times. But I maintain my disagreement with your position that it is the norm. It isn't.

Yes, I have seem them laughing about serious matters, too. I wonder if it's just because of a camaraderie thing. But this is extremely serious and these boys and their families are suffering mightily each day. Beyond that, Liefong is publicly undermining the system with the tacit approval of the city fathers. Those boys may as well be in Maoist China or the old (although Russia's current criminal justice system is still about as corrupt as it can be) Soviet Union.
