Gator penalties are killing them - what's up with all the screwups?

I wish I knew, but you're right. Six penalties so far, and the 2nd quarter has just started. The Gators have always been among the tops in the SEC for penalties - it gets so aggravating sometimes!

Coaching/discipline? Good team otherwise and one that LSU always looks forward to playing.

I'd say definitely yes under Zook. Under Spurrier and Meyer, I don't know, except maybe the complexity of their offensive schemes and their overall aggressiveness just leads to lots of flags.

And if anyone else reading this thinks I'm whining about the officials, let me say right here that virtually every one of those Gator penalties is earned. They screw up a lot. Sure, we get our share of bad calls, but who doesn't?

Usually the Gators are good enough to overcome the penalties, but all too often they come back to bite them hard. It gets to where I hold my breath every time they make a big play, for fear that it's going to get called back.
