THE bonds of marriage should be reinforced with satin, lace and a truckload of Federal Government cash, a Melbourne fashion retailer said today.
Gail Lee, managing director of clothing business Leethal Fashion Accessories, has called for the Federal Government to subsidise half the cost of sexy lingerie to keep the zing in Australian marriages.
With about 40 per cent of Australian marriages ending in divorce, Ms Lee said a woman wearing sexy lingerie would spice up a flagging marriage and dissuade wayward partners from straying.
"Financial difficulties have many marriages under pressure and, if there are arguments and problems, they can exacerbate the situation," Ms Lee said to AAP.
"We need something to help people overcome these traumatic problems, and subsidised lingerie would mean women would feel a lot better and their hubbies will feel a lot better.
"If a woman looks attractive and feels attractive and her hubby thinks she looks more attractive, every little bit helps.
"But good lingerie is very expensive. You used to be able to buy a pair of knickers for $1 but now $20 will get you very little. Individual items can cost $50 to $100."

NY minute is an old old saying...why do you fail to believe I used it?
LOL!
OT. Some friends and I are coming to the RenFaire on Sat, what is the theme going to be? :-)
You have a bad link.
That link worked thanks. I thought the link would be about 9-11.
I never knew there was a movie with the Olsen Twins about a NY Minute. But then again, I never saw the Olsen twins in anything past Full House.
Sorry for the misconception.
,,, I got some subsidised Italian shoes in Elizabeth Street a day or two before I saw you for a beer... I'm no shopper but in those Boxing Day sales, I scored rather well. With summer coming on I'll need a new hat - let me know if there's anything racey in black lycra and lace.
