I had hoped that the Foley mess would die a natural news cycle death. But, not the case. I just needed to put that Gonzo title up. RIP Hunter T

With the revelations , Foley has covered ALL the victim bases: Alcoholism, Catholic Priest, and "it's all lies".

This may not be over, but its use as a tool with which to tar the Republicans is nullified.

The story broke too soon to be use effectively as a weapon. Someone's timing was off, or had to act fast. I would have save this one for at least October 27th.

This will pass, the GOPers will win.

I think you're right. The Dems jumped too fast as usual, and most Americans blame this on the man, not on the party. Nancy and company trying to smear the entire party for one person's actions look like they are trying to take advantage of a situation involving an underage boy. How proud they must be.

No - it is not going to be over - the Stupid Party needs to find a Lee Atwater to get busy. We are at that point.

Foley is a scumbag, but I still want to know which dem(s) held onto the IM's for 3 years instead of doing something to protect the children.

I hope I'm wrong, but as close as this election is going to be I fear this may be enough to push the Republicans over the edge. I don't know if the Republicans can recover from this. I'm actually surprised the DIMs haven't went totally vicious with this, but I'm sure they will.

Do not fool yourself, I predict - more dirty Rep laundry to be aired.

Nancy Pelosi trying to blame this on Dennis Hastert isn't going totally vicious?

The Dems have mounted an all-out offensive on the Republicans over this; look over some of the other articles posted here.

But the first polls in Foley's district show it's not working, and I don't think people are blaming the party. Seriously, if someone is offended by the behavior of a gay congressman, how are they going to retort, by voting for Democrats? By staying home and letting the Democrats gain power?

I have a feeling some soiled democrat diapers may be sent out to the cleaners soon.

From the things I've been reading, this was carefully orchestrated. This information was out there a long time, and all the players acted at once, a blitzkreig operation--a political "Katrina" in the currently fashionable word.

The republicans have yet to draw their cards. As Axel Rose once sang, "it's hard to stay together, in the cold November rain".

The Dims are pretty worried about Tenet's book. And October can be an interesting months for legal cases.

I was one of those who moaned "We're doomed" at first, but this is turning out to be a one-man scandal which the Dems are trying to exploit, and the MSM is so obviously eager to assist them. I mean, no one can walk away from this claiming there is no Lib bias in the media.

But I don't get the sense that people are blaming the party. Also we have to consider that whenever you read a poll about people being mad at Congress, they always add that they like THEIR congressman.

Once the shock passed, I started to look at the facts, and the directions indicated in the polls. And I just don't see the Dems gaining from this. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this bites them in the ass for their attempt at exploiting it.
