I hope I'm wrong, but as close as this election is going to be I fear this may be enough to push the Republicans over the edge. I don't know if the Republicans can recover from this. I'm actually surprised the DIMs haven't went totally vicious with this, but I'm sure they will.

Nancy Pelosi trying to blame this on Dennis Hastert isn't going totally vicious?

The Dems have mounted an all-out offensive on the Republicans over this; look over some of the other articles posted here.

But the first polls in Foley's district show it's not working, and I don't think people are blaming the party. Seriously, if someone is offended by the behavior of a gay congressman, how are they going to retort, by voting for Democrats? By staying home and letting the Democrats gain power?
