Is Foley at Scientology Rehab?
OCMB ^

Source: http://ocmb.xenu.net/ocmb/viewtopic.php?t=20957&postorder=asc&start=30

Breaking Rumors: My Clearwater (Florida) source claims that Rep. Mark A. Foley is undergoing a phony detox at Clearwater Narconon because he is not an alcoholic. This source claims that Foley got hammered and then showed up drunk and paid the ~$15,000 "No Refund" Narconon fee for detox. (Narconon is the Scientology "Rehabilitation" program).

Paparazzi with boatloads of cash have been spotted cruising Clearwater in search of Foley's whereabouts. Reporters are also snooping around. Security at Flag (Scientology HQ at the Fort Harrison Hotel in Clearwater, Florida) is reported to be heavier than normal.

The Foley tie-in appears to be that he worked to get Clearwater Narconon federal monies to teach Narconon's Scientology message in surrounding area schools.

Quote: The director of the new Clearwater Narconon, Cheryl Alderman, a Clearwater resident and a longtime Scientologist, sank $100,000 of her own money into the venture and opened it quietly 10 months ago. She obtained a license from the state's Department of Children and Families to operate as an outpatient detox center. The program got a boost from Clearwater Mayor Brian Aungst, who issued a proclamation for "Narconon Day."

Now Alderman plans to do what no other Narconon program in the country does: Get taxpayer assistance in the form of state and federal grants. She also plans to seek referrals from local court systems and permission to teach a Narconon-based prevention program in Pinellas public schools. Pinellas County Commissioner Susan Latvala and Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judges Linda Allan and Linda Babb have toured the facility and left impressed. Pinellas Public Defender Robert Dillinger said he could envision courts sending offenders there.

My source claims that Foley has been known to be a not-so-closeted gay man in Florida and in D.C. for at least five years and that he is not an alcoholic. The claim is that phony detox is Foley's way of buying time while he figures out what to do next because he has been devastated and his life is ruined. My source says, "Look for 'Foley is suicidal' PR next because Foley is playing for as much sympathy as possible." All of Foley's friends have abandoned him and he is said to have no life outside of being a Congressman.

Here is the blockbuster claim: Narconon will turn Foley over to a non-Scientology facility in the next 24 hours because the FBI will interview Foley and Scientology does not want it to be at a Narconon facility.

I am wating for hard verification of these claims. The only thing I am sure of is that A) Rumors are flying, and B) Foley does have a relationship to Scientology of some kind. I have heard claims that Foley is an OT III; that he never attested Clear; and that he dances to Scientology's tune because OSA had blackmail on him several years ago.

It will be interesting to see how the Scientology aspect of this story plays out. Foley could always claim that Scientology auditing made him insane. If there is a Foley pc folder in Flag I bet it has already been shredded, pulped, and incinerated.

Separate Post:

And it turns out Foley was no stranger in Clearwater.

At a 2003 Scientology meeting, Foley gave a speech and was photographed happily accepting “leatherbound copies of Dianetics and The Way to Happiness.”

In 1999, Foley joined three other Scientology-friendly politicians in condemning Germany for outlawing Scientology — German law is very strict about cults, because of previous problems.

The Clearwater Scientologists also held a fund-raiser for Foley’s aborted Senate run; he dropped out after the gay thing was mentioned.

And on Friday, the Creative Loafing blog in Tampa reported that Foley attended a Scientology gala in Los Angeles five years ago.

Wow, that would be a great win, publicitywise for one of the world's great religions (Scientology, dumby!)

This would be a clear violation of the Constitutional principle of separation of church and State!

Who knows what he is now ... He started out as a Roman Catholic. A priest is probably the mystery "clergyman".

Social issues

Foley's stances on many social issues, such as abortion, differ from his party's leadership. Although a Roman Catholic, Foley is pro-choice (a member of The Republican Majority For Choice[16]), but has advocated alternatives such as adoption and abstinence. He supports also supports the Patriot Act, the death penalty, and strict sentencing for hate crimes. [2]

Back to the article:

That's a strange way of looking at THE HOLOCAUST and NAZI-ISM!

None of would make any sense unless somebody has some kind of 'real' proof. Scientology isn't pro-queer, they consider it a perversion and a sign that you are screwed up and unethical and need to change your life. And they aren't pro-abortion, they are actually pretty adamantly anti-abortion.

Saying that Foley was a scientologist because he got some civic awards or has fundraisers who are members isn't too meaningful if you consider how much land and other business they have in the clearwater/tampa area. It wouldn't be too different than getting support from the Mormons in Vegas or SLC or the Catholic Church in Lousiana. Plus, why the hell would they want to touch this guy with a ten foot pole considering what he has admitted doing? Its not like suddenly the media is going to being nice to scientologists because they offered to help this child predator.
