A woman in Orange County, Fla., was injured when she ignited a fire while smoking a cigarette as she filled her car with gas, according to Local 6 News.
Police said the woman was pumping gas at a Race Trac near the University of Central Florida when a cigarette butt sparked the fire.
Flames burned the gas pump and set her car on fire.
"The car is virtually ruined," a fire official at the scene said. "(It happened) just by doing something stupid by smoking while fueling her car."
Signs near the gas pump said "no smoking."
The woman will not be ticketed for the incident, Local 6 News reported.

I'm sure there's plenty of material in this story for a good dumb blonde joke. Any ideas?
An perhaps the tobacco company.
I've smoked while getting gas before. Of course I was allot younger and very much stupid, even more so than now.
Here's your sign dummy!
I don't belive a cigarette butt is hot enough to ignite gas fumes, even in a perfect mixture.
:)
She should be ticketed, she pt a whole lot of people in danger by being a dumb chit. They should at the very least not let people as stupid as this have a license.
There's probably a regulation that the "no smoking" sign has to be posted but apparently no penalty or consequences for ignoring it. What then require that it be posted in the first place??? Amazing.
Interesting. Got any documentation on that?
Urban myth.
Methinks the perp has received a fair amount of punishment already. Although next time it might not just be contained to her but to someone at the next pump.
Probably can't comprehend a butterfly ballot, either.....
Why not?
Call the Mythbusters!
Yeah, but that was back in the day that people didn't pump their own gas.
I worked at a gas station too but in the `80`s. The best was one day telling a schmuck to put out his cigarette while I was filling his tank and he told me if he threw his cigarette down his gas tank it wouldn`t ignite. I told him to go ahead after he insulted and mocked me a few times, and when I was far away he actually did it and nothing happened. Like you said, I think it all depends on the vapors or fumes, but to throw a lit cigarette down a gas tank tells you the kind of idiots that I live around. I told the guy to his face if his body was entirely engulfed in flames I would laugh at him, refuse to call 911, and would let him burn to death but he did it anyway. To this day I feel disappointment that he didn`t burn to death.
She must of double dosed on her stupid pills.
I finished my gasing and then walked up behind her and screamed BOOM! in her ear. she dropped the phone, turned and said, "What are you crazy?" I took her arm and pulled her to the pillar on which the "Do Not" sign was placed. I then lectured her on the evils of static electricity and the gases fumes coming out of the tank. I mentioned a SciAm article about static electricity and gas station explosions. That's where I lost her. She then said she was going to call 911. I said fine, I hope you have bail because the station attendant has been watching and I'm sure he'll support my complaint!
I actually have left gas stations b/c I saw a sea of smokers chatting around the pumps. Dumb and dumber.
