TV Prime-Time Shows for 2006-07 : What do you like? What do you hate?
9/27/06

The new prime-time TV shows are out!

OK, it's only been a week or two already. But I want to guage FR opinion. I know many of you are not too keen on network TV and that's fine - but there are a lot of us who do watch regular TV on occasion.

What do you like (or dislike) for the new shows?

Like I said, it's early but my favorites are:

"The Unit" - carried over from last year

"Jericho"

"Shark"

Well, tell me what you think!

Top Chef.

After that's over, I go back to Andy Griffith reruns....

Nice home page. I can relate to the daugher statements. Mine is almost 20 now and we still have a superb connection.

A son is a son
Until he takes a wife.
A daugher is a daugher
For the rest of your life.

And before you ask, no, I am not James Woods (I only wish!)

I've never watched CSI:Miami, but have started in repeats now that it's on A&E.  That's how I got hooked on the original CSI.  I'm not sure if I'll try to watch the first run stuff this year or just ride along on the old ones on A&E.  It's a good ensemble and well put together, at least the first season shows I'm seeing now.  I will have to wait and see how CSI (Las Vegas) deals with the whole situation they've set up with Catherine Willows in this extended season opener before I figure out if they still have it or if they've jumped the shark.  It could go either way.  The end of the first show was pretty heavy handed, even if interesting for the actors.  I loved the inclusion of Cirque (finally!).

I know these are not "new" shows, but...

The Unit - good one..glad it made a second season

CSI-Las Vegas - glad the new season is out, love this show

House - new season is good so far

Lost - can't wait for new season to start next Wednesday

Numbers - Rocks...

For the new shows:

Smith - seems to be a good hit. I like that Ray Liotta and Virginia Madson, it's like watching a mini-series/movie.

Standoff - I like it...although I can't help thinking of Office Space with Ron Livingston in it.

Heroes - kind of cool concept...people with superhuman/special abilities, become heroes...

Men In Trees - call me cheesy, but I like Anne Heche and it's kind of like another Northern Exposure, kind of...

Til Death - A new comedy sitcom

I set my DVR, but haven't seen Jericho, 6 Degrees or Shark yet...but I am interested.

Also, a new show I see coming out in January, is Daybreak...it's kind of a conspiracy theory/guy gets framed meets Groundhod day and it will air on CBS. Looks pretty good to me.

I like House, Bones and NCIS. All carry overs, nothing new is catching my attention this year.

What about "Commander in Chief" starring Gina Davis as Hillary Clinton?

I would rather have a paper cut...

Wasn't that show a couple of years ago?

Jericho
Shark
"The Unit" isn't new, but I seem to think they are spending less time with the soap opera parts this season and that will make it even better.

Eureka started off good, but I seem to have lost interest in it. I can't explain why, it has a great premise and I like the cast. Poor time slot maybe. I used to watch the replay during the week, but I started watching baseball till the end of the season (for the Phils at least).

But my favorite night is Thursdays, The Office and Earl.

Two really damn great comedies. Great casts. They remind me of NewsRadio, how hilarious that show was before Phil Hartman died.

I don't watch much TV, but did try to watch a little of "Studio 60."

It was bashing Christians, so I cut it off.

Some in Hollywood never tire of fighting God. But God's already written the final outcome--the Hollywood writers would do well to read His book, the Bible.

You turned it off too soon, that was the big twist. They were accused of it, but it turns out they are all kind of conservative and ended the TV show with a group prayer.

My wife loves Eureka. I like Rescue Me. Also NFL football, college football, and South Park.

no, really, I was going to turn it off too, but decided to watch the whole thing and then discuss it here, boy was I surprised.

Me too. I'm interested to see if it will be a running story line, or this was a one time shot. I missed the first week, and I'm not sold on it yet, but I'm willing to give it another week or so before making up my mind.

My favs:
Numbers
The Unit
Amazing Race
Survivor

I'm watching the following show to see if they'll be worth watching: Shark (pretty good), Studio 60, and Six Degrees (maybe a little too disjointed for me).
