Domi had the means to fight this and his disreguard for his kids before makes the reason for a quick settlement a less likely reason than in most cases.
He tried to bribe his wife to keep this out of court. I suspect there is something more to this that either Domi or Stronach do NOT want made public. Domi's wife specificly named Stronach when she didn't have to in order to show Domi that she wasn't bluffing, and Domi folded like a towel, pehaps under pressure from Stronach.
My totaly speculative guess is that someone has a more complex sexuality than we know of. The wife knows it and if taken to court would expose details.

What's up with the Liberals? Political treachery, corruption in Quebec, children and dead people financing leadership campaigns and now this sordid affair with a married man that breaks up a marriage! Wow. The tabloid press couldn't make this up if it tried. I suspect the Liberals have to clean house and closets before they get back in the running -- the dirt is everywhere.
