Hey!
It's gross generalizations like this that give us legitimate third rate musical artists a bad name! ;'}

People spontaneously packed the churches on the night of 9/11/01. I visited several services and it was the same at every church I saw.
Hollyweird won't get this right. Not in today's political climate.

The 22hour "evacuation" and hording and cutthroat tactics to get supplies like gas I experienced trying to leave Houston during Hurricane Rita last year had much in common with

There is no place in Kansas where you can see the Rockies.
To: mhking
I did see The Day After. I've never seen One Tree Hill. Otherwise, I agree with your assessment of Jericho.

Thanks for the thread and the reminder. I hope it doesn't go too PC on us yet.

OK, what does St. Louis know from the radio? He better get into the shelter because they are going to need him.

IRL, we are sooooo screwed if it's more than a single city strike. Makes you wonder if all the gubermint will be able to do is drop "On the Beach" little red boxes to us.

Was it that bad? It's the only decent thing to watch on the tube right now. It's either that or "Dancing with the Stars" or the "Biggest Loser". Might as well read a book.
I have a friend who's a nuclear scientist and says this sensationalism about radiation is all bull.

It's almost irresponsible what they showed on TV last night.
If there was fallout, plastic sheathing is not going to protect you and your family from the really dangerous gamma fallout. Plastic sheathign will only keep Alpha and Beta particles out. this radiations cant even get through your skin, but youa re in trouble if you ingest it. Protection from fallout is dependent on one thing, shielding. Basically you want as much mass as possible between you and any surface where fallout can collect. Ideally you are below ground, under a concrete slab or a few feet of earth. It's the high energy gamma radiation which goes right through you and screws up your DNA and causes radiation poisoning.
The kids in the show last night who were sitting in their home foyer, behind a plastic sheeted door were in full line of sight of radiation being rained down from the sky and collecting on the ground.
Great nuclear fallout shelter guide here:
