I'm having my doubts about the line that says that a wipe out once put him 600+ feet underwater. The world record for free diving is only a bit more than 300' and even that depth has proven fatal to some.

I interpreted that to mean he was dragged for a horizontal distance of 200+ meters, not pushed down 200+ meters.

Actually, I think what he means is that when the guy broke for air he was 600+ feet away from where he first went under. The article says that the wave "dragged" him that distance underwater.
