Who's to say the parents are lefties? Though it wouldn't surprise me if they are. I've seen hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle. Nothing astonishes me anymore . . . I think.

I dealt with a situation exactly like this in my personal life, though instead of kidnapping the parents used heavy coercion to get their 16 year old daughter to make the right "choice". Both parents asked me to help coerce the daughter & both reacted quite angrily when I told them I couldn't.
