The claim that this was "consensual" is ludicrous. Most hormonally charged teens do not have the willpower to resist a sexually attractive adult, particularly when you consider the natural effects of pheromones.

This is absolutely wrong. At 17, you need to be responsible for yourself, period. 17-year olds have free will just like everyone else; and just like everyone else, they have to live with the consequences of the things they do. I don't care how overpowering the drive is, nobody made this 17 year old sleep with this 29-year old. If there are consequences of his actions, he must bear them and at 17 he ought to know that. And if he doesn't, then he's going to learn. The hard way.

The age of majority is 18. On purpose. Society has recognized that most people are not responsible until that age. You can try to pick 17 or 16 or even twelve if you want to - but that doesn't make it so. Some people are mature at that age.

In my previous post I made it clear that I believe he has certain responsibilities that can not be abrogated. I also believe that the woman should JUSTLY have certain responsibilities - including a lot of hard time in a prison - for her action. In no way did I claim that there were not responsibilities on both sides. He was a minor - a status which indicates that he is still under a certain level of protection by society, do to the incomplete state of his maturation
