The age of majority is 18. On purpose. Society has recognized that
most people are not responsible until that age. You can try to pick 17 or 16 or even twelve if you want to - but that doesn't make it so. Some people are mature at that age.
In my previous post I made it clear that I believe he has certain responsibilities that can not be abrogated. I also believe that the woman should JUSTLY have certain responsibilities - including a lot of hard time in a prison - for her action. In no way did I claim that there were not responsibilities on both sides. He was a minor - a status which indicates that he is still under a certain level of protection by society, do to the incomplete state of his maturation

Keep in mind that in a great many states, his being under 18 wouldn't have presented a legal issue. It's the fact that she's his teacher that presents the legal issue.
