I actually liked Mr and Mrs Smith. I thought it was kinda funny, and I liked the gunplay scenes.
He needs to make a movie of the Tom Clancy book that had the young John Clark in it. Can't remember the name of it

IMHO, he's always playing "Brad Pitt" in whatever movie he does and Brad Pitt doesn't work in MI. At least Cruise, in spite of his wacky personal life, can appear to get into character and be believable in MI. I have to admit I have liked Cruise in a few flicks (Top Gun, Minority Report) and he can inhabit a role (as you point out Pitt is just Pitt).
In general, I don't hold an actor or singer's politics against them or I would never have been able to enjoy the LOTR trilogy. I just figure they are too stupid to be able to form independent ideas. That is, unless they are so over the top and around the bend that it matters (Sarandon, Babs, Harrelson, Jane Fonda).
And of course, Tom isn't THAT political -- he is just a nut case.
Tom's story will make a great cautionary tale about thinking you are so big you can operate with impunity.

"Snatch" is hysterical from start to finish.
Great writing, acting and the cast was perfect.

Brad Pitt is too wimpy. He'd be suitable for the role of a female impersonator.

Jason Stratham was
The Transporter, who preformed his own stunts. Very much a man in a Hollywood of non-men.

The last man's man in Hollywood.
The greatness of Steve McQueen.

Stratham is awesome. He or Clive Owen should have been Ethan Hunt

Oops, I blew it - delete the "r" - it's Statham. Sorry.

I think I take a similar same position you do vis-a-vis actors. I assume they're idiots, otherwise they'd have real jobs. As long as they aren't pushing their agenda on me, and they're entertaining, I'll let them entertain me. As a guy, there's no "eye candy" appeal for BP on my end, so if he's not believable in the role, then I'm not entertained. Even when he is believable, I find him mildly annoying in the best of films.
Speaking of Sarandon, Macy's just bought Kauffman's department stores - a popular chain in my area. Sarandon was doing one of Macy's ads.
I don't know what Macy's was thinking, but any hope of me patronizing their stores this holiday season evaporated when I saw her mug representing them. Didn't anyone there see a downside to choosing an over-the-hill, politically-polarizing shrew to represent their company?
Luckily, I have choices, and I will be choosing Dillard's over Macy's this holiday season.

My favorite Brad Pitt movie was "Legends of the Fall". Beautiful movie..

The last man's man in Hollywood. The greatness of Steve McQueen. I greatly admired Steve McQueen, but you are also forgetting Clint Eastwood.

Perhaps Helen Hunt. Or Linda Hunt! Remember the cute little principal in Kindergarten Cop?

Gee. I'd much rather see Cruise than Pitt. Mr. & Mrs. Smith was the DUMBEST movie I have ever seen in my life. Besides the ridiculous premise, it was just so badly acted. One of my favorites? MINORITY REPORT. Such an interesting movie, even with its faults.

Gee. I'd much rather see Cruise than Pitt. Especially in those yummy 'running' scenes. :::sigh:::
Nobody outruns Cruise.

He's a much better actor than Pitt, INMHO. HEY, did you see that picture I pinged you of Harry Hamlin's and Ursula Andress's son??

And you're right, Cruise was great in Minority Report, and The Firm.
Lots of running. ":^)

I also enjoyed him in two of my favorite movies "Legends of the Fall" and "A River Runs Through It". Of course, I have to admit that, in "Legends", Bart the Bear stole the show....
