Update: Nomar Garciaparra just hit a walk off two run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning, and the Dodgers defeat the Padres, 11-10.
The great Vin Scully, 50 year broadcaster of the Dodgers, was silent for at least a good two minutes, then said, just as calmly as if someone just walked, "I forgot to mention something...the Dodgers are in first place!"
I need oxygen.
I wish I'd watched the whole game!
Well, I wasn't silent for about two minutes after the walkoff - my neighbors came rushing out to see a grown man screaming at the top of his lungs aboiut Rudy F'ing Seanez and the other relievers who turned a great win for my Padres into a disaster.
The good news is we are even in the loss column...
We get Arizona and Pittsburgh at home this week, then go to St Louis and Arizona next week to finish the season. Who do the Dodgers have? I know Pittsburgh is in tomorrow - the best team in the league in the last three weeks.
I still say 87 wins will win the division, since both teams are playing about 0.550 baseball the last two weeks. At least the Giants are nearly out of contention.
I'm almost settled down enough to go to bed.
NOMAH!
GO, DODGERS!!!
And ... I REVERE Vin Scully. He is a human wonder!
