(Vanity) What ever happened to BUGS BUNNY?

Posted on 09/13/2006 2:35:13 PM PDT by Rosary

Back in the 70's or earlier even, there was always a way for the adults to unwind a little while sittng back a moment or so with the kids and watch the "Wabbit" of choice on the Sat. morning cartoons. Now a days with the more ungly the more mouthy the better-cartoons have become a more groose picture then funny. The laugh is somewhere out in left field now along wth the lost Bugs Bunny, Tweety ,FogHorn Leghorn and good old Slyvester the cat! Hay Elmer Fud ,"Where's the Wabbit"? Are videos out yet? Anyone know and the not soooo old ones I mean.

Jimmy Neutron is perhaps the best animated series that remains innocent. It is very funny and popular with the kids and parents. Other cartoons are geared toward older viewers (Simpsons and South Park). JMO, cartoons today are much better than the garbage they were drawing from 1960's Hannah- Barbera to late 1980's stuff like Transformers.

Simpsons/Ren and Stimpy/Toy Story/ Roger Rabbit started the Renaissance of today's crop of excellent cartoons.

Classic cartoons are getting hard to come by on TV. Japanese animation (uglier and mouthier as you called it) has pretty much taken over cartoon TV.

A classic Tex Avery cartoon from 1952 (6:29 duration)

For some reason Warner Brothers decided to pull all their Bugs/Daffy cartoons from Youtube, Boomerang, and Toon. Maybe there is an internal squabble over royalties.

Bugs & Daffy: Wartime Cartoons is a great collection of World War II cartoons. Wartime Cartoons help people understand Nazi (al qaeda) quest for power.

TV as a hole has lost all sense of entertainment - we've got nothing on but REALITY shows, loser news broadcast that regurgitates what the AP prints out verbatim and other crap that doesn't even make the word entertainment a possibility! I can only assume there are no more Mel Blancs or Walt Disney types alive because movies and shows are far from innovative!

One classic Bugs I love is when he is in New York City shuffling down the street to go meet his gal and a group of dogs picks on him. They stretch his neck and say "what is it? It's a Giiraff!"

Oh, I found that short recently. I remember seeing it when I was a kid. It made me crack up then, and it still cracks me up, particularly the "hair gag" and Carmen Miranda part, where he lifts up the skirt, can't see past it, and the rabbits wheel it away. LOL!
