So far the information seems to be reliable. I am looking for confirmation.

Prayers up for the good Colonel. The world would be a much poorer place without him.
I just finished reading his contribution to this months Guns and Ammo. I wish nothing but the best to him and his family.

He said the .45 is the gold standard when you have to be ready to "do some business with the Big Iron on your hip." Spoke the truth way back in the '50s.

Eagles up and prayers for a quick and full recovery for Col. Jeff Cooper, long-time master of both rifle and sidearm, soldier, historian and a true-blue, red-blloded all American patriot.

Thanks for the post. I never miss a "Gunner's Guru" of Jeff's. Several of his books are considered the ultimate references for shooting.

Prayers up for Colonel Cooper, his family and close friends.
I have enjoyed his column since I first read it, and it is the first thing I read when the magazine comes in.
May God bless him for his forthright commentary and the inspiration it has brought all of us who have read it.

He's quoted incessantly by firearms instructors all over the world - Jeff Cooper's Four Rules:
Treat all firearms as if loaded all the time.
Never point your firearm at anything you don't want to destroy.
Never touch the trigger until you want the firearm to go off.
Always be sure of your target and its backstop.
Sounds pretty serious for the good Colonel. Prayers up.

Prayers for Col. Cooper. I did not know who he was, but have enjoyed reading about this fine example of an American Patriot, and am sorry it only happened because of his health peril.

UPDATE:
Word this morning is that the Colonel is home and resting as well as possible. His original reason for being in the hospital was for surgery to relieve severe pain from some bad vertebrae in his back. There is some confusion as to his overall condition and Pat Rogers is trying to confirm at this time.
The one thing that has been confirmed is though his body is frail, his mind is sharp as ever. So it may be a bit premature to speak of him in the "past" tense.
The info I have been posting is from either Pat Rogers, his daughter, or one of his work associates. I am only posting info that I think is accurate. This is a horrible time for any family to go through, and I am trying to keep a respectful distance. My only wish is that God looks favorably on this old Warhorse we all have grown to love as a teacher.

Col. Jeff Cooper is one of the greats! I hope that he pulls through this, though I'm concerned for him at his advanced age.
I have one of his books, "To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Speak the Truth" and it's a good collection of some of his previous writings along with some more recent (at the time of publishing). I recall an out-of-print book of his called "Cooper on Handguns". It has some of his better works IIRC.
