Well, after the chickensh*t response of the Columbine police, I would hope that citizens are armed and do not depend on the local cops.

Probably a mother lion and two semi-adult kittens.....she would be teaching them to hunt. It is the right time of year for that.
These are serious predators. Don't often attack people, but every so often. They are probably hunting household pets, if they are that close to town.

The news video is very politically correct.
Useless, but pc.
The Boulder cops are also useless.

Excellent. An armed citizenry is the foundation of democracy. And, as Heinlein said: "An armed society is a polite society."
Keep your powder dry.

These are solitary hunters like leopards or tigers, not social hunters like lions. Unless it's (as someone already surmised on this thread) a mother and kittens, I find this report hard to believe.

Nah.When they are protected, they will establish their own colonies.Food is food.If not controlled, they do what they want. The save the world people have a need to leave them alone.Come across a batch of feral cats and you will know what I mean. They will tear your a..up.A batch of feral 'cats'will tear your ass up.And that is just for showing compassion!
