Also, since it looks as though we'll still be here come Thanksgiving, I'll get to fix a HUGH meal in my new kitchen!! WooHoo! SirKit has been shopping eBay and got us a gorgeous new Maytag French door refrig for just over $1000, and a new Maytag 2 cf Microhood for just over $100. He's just an eBay FOOL, I have to say! But he's gotten some absolute stone cold bargains!
One of the specialty things we're going to do, since the view off the deck is so nice, is install a horizontal 3/8" cable rail system instead of the typical vertical balusters. We have to make sure that it's kosher with the town building inspector, but SirKit will install them closer together than usual, just for safety's sake. This way, when you walk in the front door, you can look through the foyer, and through the family room, out the new french doors to the new deck and right out into the woods, without your sight line being disburbed by wooden uprights on the deck. It's gonna be lovely, then we leave. ;o) As I told Jen, though, this is great experience for us in remodeling to sell. I'll definitely have to take before and after pictures so y'all can see what we've done. Forgot to do the befores for the upstairs hall bath, but with the ones from our bath, you can get the idea because they were almost identical. They won't be after we're finished with them!
Since the market is so tight, we really have to make our house make folks want to buy it the minute they walk in. I'm hoping we can do that.
You ever watch "Designed to Sell" on HGTV? It's got lots of neat fixin-up advice about that.
