Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hmmm.... let's look...

River otter scat:

Iguana poop (captive) Wild may vary...

Your Google seems to work better than mine. In any case, the otter poop image matches up pretty well. But I'm shocked if there are otters around where I'm talking about, which is Tavernier.

I think river otters are pretty adaptable... we have them in our gully at the beach house and they go out and hunt in salt water. They come up on the dock to eat their catch in the pre-dawn early morning.
Ours isn't always black like that, usually more green and the bone and shell bits are white. I don't know what that guy's been eating.

Well, there are otters in the Everglades for sure, which are pretty close to where I see the droppings, probably 10 miles to the edge.

We love to watch them, they're very cute of course, and they cavort like clowns when there's a group.
I read a chapter on otters in a local wildlife book, and it said otters swim up underneath seabirds and pull them under and drown them!
It just seems so ~cold~. Swimmin' along like a duck in a pond and ~bloop~.

Dang... would have liked to have seen otters while we were up there. They're cool animals.

Here's something that ain't poop. Just saw this on SC... I guess was posted in a weather thread.

From Wunderground: Fire tornado Finally, I had to link this photo of a fire tornado taken by wunderphotographer Photo5150. Some fires are able to create such a strong updraft with their extreme heat that the air rushing in at the surface to replace the air lifted creates a fire tornado. This is definitely the most awesome photo of a fire tornado I've ever seen!... Jeff Masters

FReepers can be irritating critters at times...

Don't know if we have salt water otters on the East coast, but we have both alligators and crocodiles as well as a few South American caimans (broken out of the isolation cages at Miami International Airport). Perhaps they are messing things up?

Heh, caught Team America about in the middle on TMC this evening. You're right, it shouldn't be seen by ANYONE! LOL!
