The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yes! I've been trying to get to a computer so I could check on you guys. Oh, I'm so glad you've got him! I've been worrying for the past hour.

Keep getting "let's just do this one last thing..." kind of stuff. We're doing an upgrade, and I *thought* I was just here to help at the beginning, but it's not looking that way.

I really hope I can navigate the roads when this is over...and that Cisco didn't get too wet and miserable waiting for me.

*fret**fret**fret*

It's been dry here, Cisco's warm, he's been fed... you don't have to worry about him :~)

Well, I'm heading home now. I hear the roads are bad. Lovely.

I'll see you when I see you.

Not as critical to have weight in the back with a frontwheel drive vehicle, but it's true, it's good for traction sometimes. Well, we'll see. Least the roads weren't too bad tonight. Tomorrow morning may be another story.

Wintry mix, anyone?

Mmm...wintry mix...

Heh...I've been feeling that way since about...November 7th?

I can't wait to start rewriting! Especially now that everything has sort of congealed and just needs sorting out. I understand what happened, except for one or two minor details. That is so unbelievably wonderful I can't even describe it. Two years I've been trying to figure this out, and it finally makes sense! Except that I now have at least 100k to rewrite and chop and dice and rehash and all that.

WOO-HOO! Congratulations!

I think I'll probably finish Wednesday. Not *quite* only just squeaking by, but pretty close. Oh well.

I forget, is this your first year finishing, or did you finish last year as well?

Heh, we were watching the football game (as I mentioned earlier) and Rose commented on the precipitation, saying, "Before it looked like snow, now it lookes like hail... what is that falling?" And I answered sagely, "Wintry mix!"

A really odd thing about this weather is that the game on Monday Night Football is taking place only about nine miles down the road from me. There's been what seems like a pretty good snowfall down there. But here on the eastside, here zip, zero, nada.

Yah, it snowed up here a little earlier, but nothing is sticking.

What's really bizarre about this, is that it is usually the other way around. Seattle is at, well... zero feet above sea level. Bellevue is only at about 200 to 500 feet above that, depending on where you're at, but it's almost always got snowishness well before Seattle does, downtown.

But now we got Seattle getting dumped on, and parts farther east and uphill are getting bupkis.

I feel personally cheated. :-)

Another good thing to carry is a big bag of kitty litter. It's even better than sand for getting unstuck from a slippery spot. Then, come March or April, you just give the unused portion over to the cat. :-)

Technically speaking, 'round here anyways, I think that's what is called "popcorn snow". It means it is really cold, dry sort of stuff. Not as cold as powder snow, but cold down low as wetter snow falls from altitude and into colder air down low.

I think. But then again, I'm not a weatherdude. :-)

Don't know if it has been mentioned before, but 'The Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King' will have its free cable TV premier on Friday, December 15, on TNT. Based on previous showings of the series, it is likely that not too much after this they will have a marathon showing of the 3 movies!!

Mmmm...popcorn snow...

I still think wintry mix sounds like some sort of chocolate covered nut mix...or like Fiddle Faddle - the popcorn stuff, I mean.

Tagline fix...got in 1800 some words today.

And now amnesia chick has her memory back and is about to tell her life story, which should mean I get in a pretty easy 1700 or so tomorrow and then can just cruise through the last few days. Phew!

Yeah, we saw Titanic was on in HD the other night. No thanks!

Speaking of snow, we watched the movie Eight Below tonight. I was so fahklempt by the end of that thing! It was a really sweet film, though.
