The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh! He asked for a chocolate cake. So I made him a chocolate fudge cake with milk chocolate frosting on the inside (between the layers) and dark chocolate fudge icing outside and chocolate sprinkles.

Of course, he'll only eat the one slice...but I hope I made that slice worth his while! :-D

I'm working on the blog...I had such a great extended weekend!

We do have both, if you need :~)

People are pretty understanding of power and water issues when it's snowy... as long as you don't smell too bad.

Heh... I've been over there trying to help him prime the pump, or something, he calls Richard and has hims explain how, he doesn't understand and he puts me on the phone for awhile with Richard... Me, trying to interpret for the two of them... that was fun!

It's not building any pressure. Time to call Don the pump man.

We're having some nice, mild weather this week; highs in the mid 50's, lows in the mid 40's. Thankfully, we'll be able finish most of the needed outside work. I'm doing some wood filler on a couple of rotted out places on one of the window frames, then I have to prime and paint it. SirKit has to completely replace one window frame and sill molding because of the rot, and the paint won't stay on it. The builder didn't use pre-primed trim, and he didn't have the painters prime it before he had it installed. So the moisture got behind it and stayed over the last 18 years and just rotted it. We had replaced almost all the other sill moldings on the exterior for the same reason, but there were a couple that we hadn't done yet.

SirKit and Joseph almost have the furnace connected, and just in time, too, because it's supposed to get REALLY cold this weekend; highs in the mid 30's , lows in the mid 20's!

You reckon one of your fish is a cannibal?

Good looking cake! And the birthday boy and the baker aren't bad, either!

Wow 2J! What a project... I miss having something up on sawhorses in the garage. :-)

Good time well spent.

The Hobbit Hole tires were the turning point...Steve and I both agree. It had come to point that we had to be able to move that chassis around to get anything more done.

Wow! Seeing the big stuff come apart is almost as fun as it will be seeing it go back together. Great job!

Makes me want to go home and work on something... We are finally getting some stuff done on the basement again so maybe we can get that finished by Christmas.

Yep!

We've ordered the parts...they hopefully will be in this week. But it will depend on the weather, where we go from here. Chassis work has to be done in the driveway.

That's ok, because the heater channel and a patch repair in the front driver's side wheel well can be done in the shop.

15 years married this coming December. And four years of friendship before that.

We're pretty blessed.

LOL! I can just imagine that.

Well, I'm here. Man, the roads are dicey. I'm takin' it road salt is a substance that is yet to be discovered out here. That and there were people who don't seem to get the concept of leaving stopping space. Lots of accidents and people off the roads. I did OK except for some slow slipping and sliding on the bridge over the interstate after I got off, but it took forever.

Heh...it's a pretty solid bridge. No way to go off a side. But it's a hump - up and over. And the back end of that van is light enough to do some wiggling.

I might have felt worse if the big pickup behind me hadn't been struggling so much harder than I was. As it was, I felt like, "Hey, this could be worse!"

But it *didn't* help that the person on the passenger side of the car in front of me kept opening the door (we were inching along) and touching the road surface in fascination. It was soooo icy right there. Ungh.

They use some de icer in the bigger cities, but I'm actually glad they don't salt down here. It's hard on cars.

Oh, we told the boys that as soon as we get the support beam and pans back in, we'll push them up and down the street on the chassis!

LOL!!

I'm used to the concept of disposable cars. ;-) My car is probably already pretty chewed up underneath.

I guess if it's only icy like this a few times a year, I'd agree with you. Otherwise...salt is preferable to accidents.

I'm also wondering if I shoulda left poor Cisco inside...considering it may be just as long a drive home. Oh well...he'll live. He was playing in the stuff when I left and didn't want to go in.

He is inside? I can go let him out a little later if you want.

We're going to go out to breakfast and find toilets that flush. :~)

The pump guy said he would come out this afternoon but he didn't want to drive in the ice... wimp! Heck, I'll go pick him up, I don't mind driving in it. We're going to need water by tonight. We blew our emergency toilet water already trying to prime the well pump.

I didn't phrase that very clearly, did I? No, he's outside. But it's cold outside. I guess he'll be OK, though.
