Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Sure! Maybe we could do it around lunch time. Either that or go back just after five when there aren't many folks around.

Not a lot going on is exactly how life should be the day after Thanksgiving...

I'll call when I figure out how long the project is gonna go!

Just one update...apparently most of the building is closed - that door where I had you let me out is locked. I *think* the big door on the front is open, but I'll hafta check.

OK - will it fit out any door? or is it vital you have access to the big doors?

Should fit out any...it isn't huge. Just thought the big ones would make things easier.

Is there a time crunch? Do we have to do it now or can it wait for a clear day with less chance of rain?

Less than a week to go...are you going to make it? You have just over 10,000 words to go.

Thanks for the help! Too bad about the freak downpour...but all's well that ends well. Think I'll give it a bit before I attempt plugging in the light, though...

Just under 10k, actually - tagline fix.

I'll finish. Might push it to the end, but I'll finish. Been goofing off because of the holiday, but I'm on target enough to get away with that.

Well, this morning we decided to finally deal with the tree that fell on the fence in the back forty...

As you can see, we had to decide how to best cut it, because it was in a rather precarious position. We decided, after reviewing what we know about physics, gravity, levers and see-saws, that we could cut it pretty safely at the fence line. Being that it was wedged pretty well between the two alders, and against a fir on the other side, we figured when it was cut there's only so far it could go. It would go straight up, or down... depending on which end was heavier.

We cut through it with a combination of sawsall and handsaw.

We cut through it till it was just hanging on by a hair, then ecurbh just pushed on it till it broke loose.

Here's the video of that exciting moment!

And here's where it now sits... it's clear of the fence now, and stable there... The fence sprang back into place, not terribly stretched. The horses can at least be turned back out there.

So yeah - we had to push it. :~)

Scary video. ;-)

Did look like it *could* have been a bad scene, in any case! Glad it went well!

Scary video. ;-)

Wasn't it? I didn't know, when I was standing there, if I was filming a future America's funniest home video. :~)

Heh...I think Gidget could win one of those types of competitions. She cracks me up. Should have brought Stephen over while he was here so he could see her in action.
