Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well....the menfolk had their turkey shoot whilst we were in the middle of meal preparation so I didn't participate. :(

However they had more uniform targets to shoot at. Hehehe

One of my nephews had a turkey to color in skool. They had a little thought balloon where they were supposed to write in what the turkey was thinking (a "save the turkeys" moment,no doubt.) Well, brother scanned that turkey picture and put a target on it and "Eat more chicken." in the balloon. That's what they used for targets.

Clare told me they had a bit of a cold snap in Naples this past week, but that it was sunny and mid 60's today. She sat by the pool for a while and read "The Aenied" for her Lit. class. Then she went and joined about 25 kids who were having a Thanksgiving dinner at the girls dorm. She said it was mostly older students, but a few of her friends from the freshman class were there as well. One of her roommates is from Deerfield Beach, and invited Clare for the weekend, but she wanted to get her reading done, and and essay on the book for her class over the weekend, so she stayed at the school.

We missed her and David, and are looking forward to Christmas when they'll all be here.

Reminds me of the cows in the Chick Fil A commercials with their signs that read "Eat Mor Chikin"!

Heh...a couple of years ago we needed (for whatever reason) a cow in the Christmas show. So the petting zoo we use for our other animals brought her along.

The cast member assigned to bring her in asked "Is this the same cow we had in the Easter show?"

"No. We ate her."

Agreed. I made another 4 shots of espresso for ecurbh, but he's not up yet and it's getting cold. Maybe I'll drink that too and make him some fresh...

I've been up for awhile and still haven't had coffee. Which is just wrong.

Heading to work in about forty-five minutes. Hopefully what we need to do doesn't take more than a few hours! I want my goof-off time, durn it.

Though...I reckon I can nix doing many errands today. I imagine all stores are going to be absolutely insane.

This is the time of year I avoid shopping anywhere but the grocery and the drug store...and even those can be iffy.

What's this I hear about snow on Monday?

Hmmm... that should make the commute more interesting.

*whimper*

I miss back roads and freeways where there's rarely someone in the lane next to you.

I can drive in the snow on my own...especially in places where if you slide, you just slide off the road. The idea of driving in snow in three lanes of traffic makes me queasy.

Hmm... Weather Underground now has it up to a chance of snow in Bellevue sometime *today* and all through the weekend. Snow level is only at 500 feet, and dropping over the next few days.

Hmm... Maybe I should think about heading back up on Sunday, instead of Monday. Looks like it's going to continue all next week too. Monday could be a real circus.

What's the status with the trip to get the desk? You want that to happen today?

~almost~ always, the freeways end up pretty clear, at least one lane. Here, when it snows, for the most part everyone slows down, and the freeway becomes one lane single file, with only the occasional 4x4 who is cocky enough to barrel by in the other lane.

Well...if we go during hours, we can bring it out one of the big doors. If we go back later in the weekend, I only have keys to a side door. So it'd likely be easiest to get it before they lock up, in any case.
