Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Okay, I've got some foam stuff as a gasket in the front case fan. It works! I can't hear it from the living room.

I've had a few weeks of feeling completely inept and not much fun to boot.
It's very frustrating.
Doesn't help that I've been ridiculously homesick lately.

Sorry about the homesick part. The holidays are bummers that way.

Yeah...though this started awhile back. I think fall does it to me.
That and I've hit the year and a half mark since I've been back. And it's dark and rainy. And my story has really been stuck for the past two weeks, so I'm writing garbage when I really like the little thing and want it to work.

Well hugs to you.
My story is starting to take off. They're on the trail hiking, finally, so I get to explore MC's impressions of physical discomfort. Heh. he's not happy. But it's still just a dumb narrative. not much craft in it. But that can wait until editing.

In the very center of my story, I have a situation wherein one of the main characters is killed in a fire, and another character - his wife, who was partially responsible - disappears. And I still don't have a motivation for her to go along with the fire, except that she's not a good person. And above all, I don't have a reason for anyone to rescue her so that she's able to get away. Every possible solution has a reason why it wouldn't work.
I've been writing around that big mystery from almost the beginning, and I can't write around it anymore. It needs a solution. And the harder I try to think of one, the more elusive it gets.

And I am finally, FINALLY, out of the first chapter!
Now I'm in a better place ... working with my main heroine and a lot of dialogue.
Hope to get rid of those durn stars tonight!

Instead of buying coffee, how about a plane ticket?
To: Rose in RoseBear
*sigh*
Yeah, I want to. Dunno if it'll make matters better or worse. And I have to buy tickets to my brother's wedding in January, too.

Thought the wedding would be on the West Coast ...?
To: Rose in RoseBear
Yeah...still wayyyyy too far for easy driving in the winter in a car that needs work. Especially as I don't have all that many days saved up.

Hmmm ... rent a car and enjoy the drive in daylight stages. Won't you need a car when you get there?
To: Rose in RoseBear
No - don't plan to drive once there. A car will just be a nuisance. And the way down there goes through some areas that may well be really nasty that time of year. Not my idea of fun.
Driving there doesn't make sense when flying is as cheap as it is. It's just an expense, that's all.
