Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Joshua stuck a magnet on the front of his TV and it has a permanent purple spot now!

Sister Mary Turkeyburner doesn't roll off the tongue quite as nicely, does it?

You guys have quite the family dramas!

Hi Rosie!

I've missed you guys too.

How's everything?

Dragging this back from the other Tolkien thread...

Everything's pretty good! Those of us in Washington (which includes me now) have been enduring hard rain and a lot of wind - with the power outage fun that goes along with that. Jen and TalonDJ are married and in Iowa, as you've probably noted. 2J's Steve finished his degree and is looking for a higher end job, hopefully in the same area, and they're spending their spare time restoring a VW Bug. G'nad's oldest boy got his first buck a few days ago. The SuziQs are moving south again...I get confused as to where they are from week to week as they're doing some traveling back and forth as they prep the MA house for sale. Corin's life continues to be...interesting.

Hm...what other news am I missing?

I think there are guys in bucket trucks practically living at the store...we seem to be the geographical center for most of the power outages in the area. :-\

Yeah - I saw them after the first outage, just sitting there relaxing a minute before they get the next call :~)

That's pretty good. I wouldn't make it too easy for him, if he didn't want to miss the minidramas, he could at least check in once in awhile! :~)

Look out for the Bumpus hounds....

I swear I am not making this up.

My cousin was hosting her husband's family for Thanksgiving. She put the turkey on top of the refrigerator to keep it away from the dog.

The cat jumped up on the refrigerator and pushed the turkey off for the dog.

Cousin quickly said "let me go get the ~other~ turkey"...

Then washed off and served the original one she had rescued from the dog.

I would... I'm not sure I buy the story anyhow... A cat would never do anything ~for~ a dog. :~)

Hey! That link you posted led me to research a bit and I found where a guy de-purplespotted his computer monitor using magnets swirling on a drillbit. Upon further reading, a person commented that they just took a magnet and waved it around in front of their monitor and it fixed the purple spot!

I just now got the magnet that Joshua used to put the purple spot on there in the first place and waved it around quickly in front of the TV screen and voila!!! The purple spot went away!

Wow! Thanks Rosie!

It fixed itself, it's fine now.

It just needed a little jolt, huh? Glad to year y'all are holding up. We've been soggy here for the last few days, and tonight there are supposed to be thunderboomers. Not unusual for November, but what IS unusual is how mild the temps are! It will get colder next week, but some years we've already had a good snowfall by this time.

I ain't complaining, mind you. SirKit hasn't connected the new furnaces because the mild temps have given us the time to do things outside that needed doing rather than work on the furnace. That will have to be done this weekend though.

I have, however, drawn the line at Sister Mary Hamburner's offer to cook the turkey.

Really, why? Not into gastronomical surprises this year? ;o)

Hope you can get some heat on :~)

We're up a creek here, without electric, no fireplace. Growing up we always had a fireplace, and used it on those no power days! Any house ecurbh and I buy or build will have one!
