Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Sounds like something you could step into without much in the way of training; at least not the medical part.

This is what a good zoom lens and a cold day can capture. We counted at least four - one momma and three youngin's. There were probably more, but we didn't press the issue. Heh.

It's a timber rattlesnake. I haven't seen one in the wild before. It was kinda neat. The last time I saw a rattler, I was back home as a kid. I ran to get Dad to shoot it. He kept a pistol loaded with snake shot in the house at all times - not that we ever had that many rattlers in the yard. Maybe one every year or so.

Gosh, this wind is kinda scary!

Hey, is work calming down at all? I'm going to take some time off next week since there's one day where I can see my little bruvver...but I'm thinking I could take a day or so besides that to get the van checked and all. If it wouldn't be cutting things too close...

Oh - which day? I'll call and see if we can get an appointment! And what, exactly, do you want done/checked?

Thursday would be the easiest.

And I want an oil change, for sure. Be nice if I could also get a full safety check, pretty much. The steering isn't straight (have to hold the wheel to the right to go straight), and it shimmies. So do the brakes. And the brake light is coming on periodically, but I think that's just low-ish brake fluid. It happens more on corners and when the car is cold.

It's a '97 Mercury Villager, if they need that.

And I'm really debating going all-out and switching the oil to that fancy stuff...

OK - Sounds good. I'll call tomorrow and see.

And back to the weather, it's definately fall-like all of the sudden, huh!

Yep. Chilly in here, a little, which gives me an excuse to dig out my nice fleece tops.

I rather like cold, in small doses...

Speaking of the van, it's really interesting driving it in this weather. It makes a pretty good sail.
