Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

You know, you should either do a calendar or a series of greeting cards with your kitty pics. You could sell 'em on eBay.

I took this one the other day. Even all grown up, Tweek still has a special relationship with Cartman, the crusty ole bugger likes her a lot.

Thanks, but I don't know if our socks and t-shirts are calendar-worthy... Tweek is just such a pretty cat.

Good evening!

Well, I took a few days off and feel much better. I had an absolutely splendid day, dispite it getting cool and a bit blustery!

We went to a salvage yard. Oh, it was paradise! There were Beetles all over the place and I scored a fantastic chrome front bumper, including the bumper braces, off a '70 Beetle, made the month before mine. It was a bit pricey, only about $20 less than brand new, but brand new is made in Mexico and this is authentic, German-make!

The guy threw in a chrome driver's side mirror too and thus I believe we come to the end of the things "missing" on my Beetle, except for an few thing in the motor...which we can't get in a salvage yard anyway...they'll have to be replaced new when the motor is rebuilt. Oh, and of course the headliner, carpeting, mats and seat covers which will naturally be fresh and brand new.

Then, I got Steve his birthday present. A Craftsman MIG welder. It's a "refurbished" one, so cost about half the price of one in the store, but can be exchanged if it doesn't work. It looks completely brand new.

We'd like to try it out, but alas...tonight is the RA "lock in" sleepover at the Church Down the Street. Both the boys and Steve are gone and will be gone all night, consuming pizza, chips, cookies and watching movies till the wee hours, I'm sure.

I'm home alone.

~sip~

I really needed today.

Welcome back after your brief respite! Sounds like the salvage yard was fun and profitable!

SirKit and I went to a true junkyard while we were on our trip back to MA, picking up some stuff he'd gotten off eBay. These guys drive down to Warner Robbins AF Base, a few miles south of where they are, and haul back all manner of stuff. The base just gives it to them because it's stuff that's broken or no longer needed, etc. We filled up our 20' trailer with all kinds of interesting stuff! It's only about 8 hours from the Gulf Coast, so we'll likely make that a regular trip in the future. ;o)

We also found a great place for imported ceramic and porcelain tile about an hour north of Atlanta. The prices are about 1/2 what they'd be in most any tile store, so if we wanted to get a big load of them, it would be worth it hauling the little trailer up to get some.

How about a cuppa coffee? We're having some flavored decaf right now.

I feel pretty good. I haven't looked at any FR for a couple of days, nor watched any news. I've checked my email and that's only because I have my support group's newsletter I have to do this weekend.

I spent a lot of time just sitting with the boys. Feeling basically tired and run down (we've all been sick, on top of everything.)

Today was just fresh air and fun...

Oh, I love salvage yards! To me, there's just nothing so fun!

I found a footrest thingy that goes under the carpeting of my Beetle. I have one, but a guy on The Samba offered to buy mine and I declined. Told him I'd look for one for him though and I found a great one! The salvage yard guy threw it in for free too!

Silly kitty! She shoulda lounged in the dark clothes. That way her shedding hair would show up better.

I don't remember the 60s.

Or was it the 70s?
