Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Course, this being Olympia, he may very well have thought he was making some sort of profound statement.
What really makes it dumb is that there's a bike path that runs pretty much right along the Interstate.

Just now, I was on the phone with Steve, standing in the driveway and a couple of F16s flew over...pretty low...lower than usual anyway and the roar was just awesome! If I hadn't had my phone in my hand, I woulda waved the flag at them, because they might have been low enough to see. Alas, they were too fast for me to put down the phone and get the flag off the house!
But directly...not a minute or two later, along comes an AWACS! Right behind them, just about.
God bless 'em. Lord, keep 'em safe.

Just as an FYI, there *is* actually, or at least used to be, a short section of the freeway where you can ride a bike on the shoulder, but it's not where he was, it's the section right at Nisqually where there is no alternative crossing.

You know anything about these guys?

They're in Overland Park. They're also in Shawnee Mission. They're also a mile down the street from us...
Steve's thinking about dropping by...

He's in the process of updating his resume then I'm sending it to them.
He's got a cell phone now...gotta put that on there. I can't do it because my Word demo ran out.

I know! I thought of that too.
I was just thinking a minute ago that if Steve gets a job with them, perhaps he'll have to come up to Kansas now and then...the job description says Kansas City/Tulsa office...
Maybe I could hitch a ride and come see you and OB now and then...perhaps even swing down through Lebanon?

Steve was frying up some ground turkey when I left...don't know what he's got planned!
I gotta stop on the way and get a soda for the meeting.
Tonight's the night I boot the folks from the egroup that didn't re-up. Remember how stressful that was last year? Something like 40 people! This year I think there is three or four that didn't join again. And we have several new ladies...

Evening 2J - Our place is easy to find and we'd be glad to see y'all. We got a couple good BBQ places up here too.

For anyone who missed one or both parts of "Path to 9/11", check out
this thread... apparently ABC has it available for free download on their website.

I suppose that means one set of squirrels is defective...not sure whether it's the Washington set or the Kansas set...
To: RosieCotton
Dunno, but I've never had a bit of trouble with them :~)
There's ripe tomatos out there for the taking too.
For that matter, there's a tree full of apples in the back forty that are rotting. I can't get varmints in my crops if I try :~D
