Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Welcome back Sam! You had been away for awhile!

Glad you noticed the wrong vote... I'm about to head up to go vote myself, I'm still registered up in Gig Harbor, haven't ever bothered to switch it, so I have to go way out of the way :~)

I was going to blow it off, but I've seen been guilted into it by my father. :~)

I sort of disrespect most of the Republicans, but I actively hate most of the Dems, so I felt obliged to vote...'course, the poll is a 2 or 3 minute drive and convenient to get in and out of, so that helps.

Well, Sam, sometimes your choice is between a giant douche and a turd sandwich, but we do the best we can to choose.

Pacing Corin? Who says you even need the gym?

Which one is the lesser of two evils again?

The trainer told me I should get up from the computer ever 30 minutes or so and do jumping jacks or walk up and down a flight of stairs.

I said, "Good. That's where the vending machines are."

Maybe you should see how they're doing on Tradesports first.

I may never survive this election...

If it gets any wetter here, your salmon might just come to me :~)

Bourbon Glazed Salmon

4 servings

4 6 – 8 ounce salmon fillets or steaks
1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
1/3 cup dark brown sugar
1/3 cup bourbon
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 teaspoon hoisin sauce
4 garlic cloves, minced
1/3 cup orange juice
1 lemon, juice only
1/4 cup olive oil

Combine pepper, sugar, bourbon, soy, hoisin, garlic, orange juice and lemon juice in a medium bowl and whisk to blend. While whisking, add oil in a thin stream to emulsify. Place salmon in a glass or plastic container or large zipper lock bag. Pour marinade over salmon and refrigerate 4 – 8 hours. Remove salmon from marinade, pat fish dry with paper towels and air-dry in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Grill fish over medium-hot coals until just-cooked.

Cooking Tip – For a little more flavor, heat the marinade in a saucepan over medium heat until liquid is reduced by one-half. Baste fish with reduced marinade just before removing from the grill.

Ugh...that's going to be a mess when the water goes down!

Meanwhile, our server room has sprung a leak. Luckily it's in a corner without a lot of equipment, and it was mostly just bad last night. But that's just not a good thing.

I'm hoping he finds his way back to the river... as long as he keeps heading up stream, the water should lead him where he needs to go. Unless there's a chain link fence. :~)

Well, I'm off to Gig Harbor to vote... gonna take a look at the rivers on the way up, but I think they're going back down.

Ungh...attempting to write the scene I don't want to write under lunchtime time constraints just doesn't work well.

At least I'm alone in the office. Anyone else find themselves making faces to match whatever the character is thinking / saying?

With the possible exception of the very first time we voted here in MA, I've never had to show my ID. The ladies who work behind the tables at our precinct have been there for years, and they all know who I am. I just give them our house number; they remember the street, and they give me a ballot.

We haven't gone to vote, yet. We were taking advantage of the warmish weather to get some more caulking and painting done on the siding. We'll be going out to vote in the next hour. We'd like to get there before the 'getting off work' crowd. There are two precincts at the Public Works Garage, and the parking is limited, to say the least.
