Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

In other news, my muse is on strike. Good thing I'm ahead. Didn't really get any writing done first thing this morning or during lunch. Or rather, I did some writing, but it doesn't fit in the story and I can't force it to fit.
And I still haven't resolved my moral dilemma from yesterday.

*sigh*
I think that's where I'm headed. It's completely out of character for him, but he was also at a really low point in his life. And she's really manipulative when she wants to be.
I still really need to get into amnesia chick's head - pre amnesia. There are still a lot of her motivations that I don't have worked out yet.

I've already slipped into boring, linear, narrative. I'm boring myself. Completely.
But I'm over 10K.

I really hate how long it takes to get from one place to another in a story. And I have a tendency to start describing one day after another instead of finding a good way to skip three months, since half of the day to day blather isn't a big part of the story.
In other news, it's wet. Very.

Yeah, the characters haven't even gotten to where they're going yet. They're milling about the Garden of the Gods right now trying to get acclimated.

Garden of the Gods.... ooooooohhhh.... pretty! I loved my visit there.
My people are discussing the impact of their recent kidnapping. The discussion of the repercussions is longer than the actual kidnap sequence.

OKAY :~) We're here... Here's our report from our drive today... the rivers aren't flooding yet. They're full of water, but not really over their banks yet. We took some pictures to compare tomorrow... the water is still rising :~)
The Deschutes at the Falls... It's noisy, but I've seen it higher, even last year.

The Nisqually... several feet above normal, but mostly still in it's banks...

The flood plain waterlogged, but it's not the river, it's just the rain so far.

My main char is contemplating Pikes' Peak. He'll hike it in a couple of years, but not this trip. The mountains are going to taunt him and tempt him and they'll call to him long after he's gone home.

Is anyone else having trouble with images loading tonight? Or is it just me?
And if it's me, what can I do about it?

Not sure there's anything you can do about it... It seemed fine for me, but if Snapfish has gone slow for everyone, I can remove the posts.

I like that one tree out there in the flood plain. Brave little guy...
If this steady rain keeps up all night and the stuff from uphill starts running down, it may get a lot more interesting.

Came up OK here. Took maybe a fraction of a minute longer than usual, but no big deal.

Took three or four seconds to load - there were red placeholder 'x's then they came down.
