Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Looks like it'll be a great day for lining a chimney.

Hmmm....the chipmunks are particularly frisky this morning.

Will pray for the nephew. Luke had RSV when he was about 5 months old. It was scary, but he did just fine.

So did you make a decision about NaNo?

We're going to the local NaNo kickoff party here in about forty minutes. I'm interested in seeing who else is doing this crazy thing. Fort Collins had a wonderful group. Total weirdoes who were mostly leftist but great characters. It seems like every year more people do this.

I haven't decided for sure yet. If I can come up with the basics, I think I can run with it.

But I'm really stuck on the whole misheard prophecy thing. The story is supposed to center around that.

I'm not sure I could work around not having it.

What does the prophecy have to say? You could basically just distort the words into nonsense syllables. Could just the first part be the common children's rhyme and your hero or whoever has to research the history of it to find the whole poem?

There's a local party here this afternoon. In *town*. I haven't decided if I'm going to go. Considering the group here appears to be a mix of guys who just turned 21 and think being able to get drunk is a talent and women who are mostly self-professed pagans and witches and stuff.

They make the Fort Collins folks look like the more hardcore FReepers.

Erm. Hm.

Not quite in the same realm, but for my first NaNo, my whole story centered around an object that I couldn't picture and that had writing on it, but I didn't know what.

Heh...as I recall, I ended up having one character spend a bunch of time working on a translation, to give myself more time to work out the details. And did a lot of scribbling questions to myself in the margins to give my brain a nudge, hoping something would click eventually. That's one benefit to hand writing, I guess.

Heh...so now you can plant it and do it all over again!

Efficient. Kinda.

I was planning on slicing and baking it with onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and basil...
