Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ack! Sorry about that, then. :-)

Choppers as in motorcycles. There's several different shows about people that make custom bikes. Like these guys:

Not high art, but lots of welding and banging on metal. It was the welding reference that I was going for. :-)

Ohhhh!!

*Those* kinda choppers!

Heh heh!

Who knows! You never know!

But mostly, I just want to be able to spot weld. I feel like if someone could just show me how to do it I could do it. Spot weld, I mean. See, the Beetle panels are just spot welded on with a metal sealant-like stuff to cover the seams. So when we go to replace the heater channel (which is actually coming up soon...~fret~), we'll have to drill out the current spot welds, remove the damaged heater channel, then spot weld another one in it's place.

I also feel like if someone would just show me how to use a hot glue gun, I could do that too...but that's a different situation all together.

Nana could use some new choppers. She uses this adhesive that she's apparently having a reaction to. So, her mouth is sore which means 1) she's pretty much eating only soft foods and 2) she's not wearing her lower plate.

And trust me, there's a whole lotta TMI issues that I ain't bringin' up here. So, thank me.

That's just ~this week's~ curve on the roller coaster.

Man, I hate dentures.

I know folks gotta have 'em...but it seemed when I was working that I was the only nurse that felt inclined to brush them and yuck, I say yuck-ola.

Folks appreciated me doing it, so there was that...but I hated it every time.

Well, perzackly. I'm sure Jr. would be willin' to take you out back and shoot you as well. Shall I ask him?

That said, this really is draining on all of us. The other morning wife was trying to work (home is her office now) and Nana needed some...let's just say stuff and you can imagine what it was...She told wife when she came downstairs. Wife was on the phone making business calls and hadn't even had coffee or breakfast by 10 a.m. (she was up at 7 to get Luke to school). Nana comes back in and says "I ~really need~ it."

Well, we understand that. But she's got to understand that we can't jump at her every command. Wife said "you have to think of me as being away at work."

But that won't help. Current thought is to get her through this rough spell (yet again) and then sit down and have a serious talk with her. This simply can't continue.

So, there's that.

Yes, it may be very well that his solution to that problem is the only thing in his life he's definitively planned.

Speaking of family
...My folks get here tomorrow afternoon. They're staying at a campsite and will be picking the boys up along the way.

Thinking about getting something like this. Apparently there is a way that you can have these "re-issued" to you...will research and see how it's done.

I think most states have a vintage plate you can get. But I've not seen an option for old plates to be re-issued. It's a cool idea though. Would be hard in Virginia. We have to have plates on the front AND the back.

Well, I'm not positive it can be done here...but I occasionally see folks with old vintage plates and wondered.

I just perused the tax commission website and found where you could buy current plates that actually say "Classic" on them. I'd want that, if I can't get the old plates re-issued. I also want them to be some sort of vanity plate (if I can't use the old ones.)

The old ones are the ones I'd prefer, in keeping with our philosophy.

I just emailed the tax commission and asked them. I bet I never hear a word back. Heh.

My folks'll be here tomorrow around noon to pick up the boys. Steve took the day off after lunch tomorrow and is going to take me to some salvage yards.

Whatta guy!
