The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Probably not a separate thread. I put it on the blog and on the Virginia message board. I'll post it in an upcoming campaign thread.

Yes, very bad. If I did not know all the words I might not have gotten some of the jokes.

Need some nano plot input. I need more online things people can do that big or stereotypical that can blow up in your face. I have:
Blogs (with data mining)
Forums (with flame wars)
IM: With internet romance turning to creepy stalker
Chatrooms: not sure what I will do here
Myspace? friendster?: no plan here yet
Online games: With the aliens that want to hire him and the others that want to kill him for winning.
Online gambling: With fake credit cards, a big win, and mob hitmen coming for him.
Ebay: With that thing that the wizard guild wants back
E-commerce websites: With the fake kungfu scroll he posted online (for paying members) that is a real scroll of lost arts.
And of course...
The scam email that turns out to be real and gets him into an international murder mystery subplot.

My current idea for the big twist ending is that he makes all the craziness work against each other, solves everything, And then swears off the internet completely....

Then the aliens send him a thank-you present of a holo-terminal to the galactic hypernet.

I have a story start that you can swipe if'n you want:

Type-A career woman stops in to her favorite shoe store to buy the must-have-or-die shoe. They're out of her size. She goes ballistic. At home, she finds an online retailer that carries them. While she's clicking around to place her order the website gets hacked. The hacker is particularly juvenile in his comments on the page. So she starts cyber-stalking him and finds a forum where he hangs out. She calms down enough to have enough presence of mind to use a library's computer to exact her revenge. She writes out this rant about what a loser the hacker is, how they should get a real job, blah blah blah. She signs her rant "A Citizen" and feels better about the whole deal.

Until work the next day....

when she is called into the conference room by her boss to meet with a bunch of FBI agents who are tracking the notorious hacker "A.Citizen". He's wanted on a multitude of charges that I haven't made up yet.

Yowsers! Well, she's no hacker and the FBI are convinced she's not the one (but not after putting the fear of God into her first). But now she's a target of A.Citizen and the FBI want her cooperation in helping them catch him. She's bait. Throw in some romantic twists (ie A.Citizen developing a genuine, adolescent crush on her), some silliness, and some drama and it might be a good nano.

Naw. There's nothing on my shopping list that is ever must-have-or-die. I patterned her on one of those "shopaholic" stereotype-type characters. Only I wanted less of a dingbat.

I have been complimented!

One of the moderators at The Samba posted one of my threads on a "Sticky"...saying it's worth keeping up front.

I'm very flattered!

Well, I try to help a lot on that board whenever I can, because they're very helpful to me and don't redicule me because I'm ignorant (not stupid...I don't mind admitting to being ignorant.)

One guy had to weld in an entire package tray into the back of his bug. He didn't even have a previous package tray to reference, and I helped him by going out, taking all the measurements of mine and photoshopping the measurements onto digital pictures for him. He was so appreciative!

A young teenage girl couldn't get her seats out...I took pictures of each step how to do it...again, she was very happy and had no trouble after that.

Then one guy ordered what he thought was a fresh air box (puts fresh air into the car) and instead only got a hose. I had just seen exactly what he needed and told him I'd go get it. I bought it, shipped it to him and the whole thing cost me about $11. I declined payment, so he made a donation to The Samba website in my name.

Steve says he'd pat me on the back if my own arm wasn't in the way, but my feeling is...if you are helped, you should help.

My "newer" rims were purchased for like $5 from a guy in OKC that is a Samba participant.
