Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Evenin' sportsfans...

[pant][pant]

so... I'm not at the hotel I started out at. Turns out that the ~entire~ Marriott chain has gone non-smoking, sometime since I made my reservation and now.

I checked in at the Marriott and found this out. Called my usual hotel (which was full-up when I made my travel plans) and yes, in fact, they had a cancellation and I could get a smoking room in my regular home away from home.

Not to mention... the marriott room was a POS compared to the Sofitel. The bed should've had pockets in the corners and a green felt bedspread.

Funny though... the Sofitel is cheaper. And it has a restaurant and lounge. The Marriott didn't have either.

I made reservations here at the newplace and walked back out and checked right back out of my marriott room. In their favor they recognized the problem with all-nonsmoking rooms and didn't charge me for anything.

So... here I am... at my favorite cheezy french hotel. Sipping a nice turkey and Gordon Biersh.

Nice.

:-)

Well, what a lot of runnin' around!

Glad you got yourself taken care of, I'd hate to think what a week in a non-smoking room in a non-smoking California would do to ya. Doesn't help us if you cough less but end up arrested for taking someone's head off :~)

Well...I'm off.

*yawn*

Maybe I'll start doing server reboots at five thirty or so in the morning instead of nine at night. I seriesly think that might be easier.

Apparently there's no way to know when you've found out. That's part of the problem. :-)

Heh...even wimmin don't understand wimmin a lot of the time.

I think it's hopeless.

Ungh...I'm having a major "oh cr*p" moment. Since we've had some reboot problems with the fax server, it was decided to shut it down completely instead when we do maintenance. So I did. And the second it exited Windows, I realized I don't have the key to the front panel of the server. And without that, I don't think I have any way to turn it back on.

I guess at least it's not the mail server. But I don't know that there's anything I can do about it until morning.

Like I said...oh cr*p.

Oh jeez... the "ohnosecond".

That measurement of time between when it occurs to you that a problem has occurred, and when it really settles in that no, in fact, there is nothing to be done about the problem.

Bummer. I'm sorry. Blame it on me. Tell them I said it was OK.

In this case, I need a rewind button for life.

This is why I shouldn't do server reboots at night. My brain is only at half-power by now.

Well...I sent my boss a message explaining. I dunno what else to do for tonight. It's his birthday, and I really don't want to page him.

*smacks forehead*

What sort of key? you mean the key to front panel as it sits in the rack? I don't recall that those buttons require a key. Should be able to restart it as soon as somebody shows up. or... is that what you mean? it did a shutdown instead of a restart?

Yeah, I shut down. I couldn't see any button on the front - just the front cover and the little plastic thing where the light shows through.

I think the button to press is under the cover. And I tried every key I could find to no avail. I'm sure the boss has a stash of them somewhere - we have four or five servers that all use the same key. But I couldn't find any.

Read your Pooh books :)

I had just seen it recently while reading with/to a short person. It's Owl's birthday greeting :)
