The Hobbit Hole XXXI - Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Isn't it supposed to rain on Wednesday?

Silly cat!

Neutron is apparently terrified of the vacuum. I ran it and left it, off, near their cage while I did chores; then I let them out and he refused to come out of the cage. Took me a couple minutes to figure out what was wrong. Silly dog.

Poor puppy! You've scarred him for life!

Kitty says I need to expect that if I'm going to leave drives in her cat bed.

Speaking of dogs, the flower bed I spent all Sunday afternoon on is now a series of holes.

I could cry.

Aw... man... I don't dare leave the dogs out of my sight for more than a few minutes. They've shown tendencies to chew up everything.

I figured he'd dig. I just didn't figure he'd dig the way he did. He didn't just play in the dirt - he targeted the bulbs.

I guess I can't have bulbs. I'm guessing he'd dig them up even after the flowers were there. And that stinks. I want them.

I also accomplished nothing at work today, so I'm kinda feeling guilty. Did write about 2500 words, though. If that's good. And introduced a new character, with whom I promptly fell in love. What else is new.

I also still don't have the birthday package my family sent a week ago. I think I'll go sulk.

And now I'm rethinking my NaNo story at the not-quite last minute... that I should write the story I really want to tell and not the prequel I'd planned....

Ha!

I like the concept...though it looks like that's last year's model.

You don't even know when Cisco's birthday is, and you'll never see him sulk. :~)

Speaking of Cisco... was he bad today, or not?

And how'd your van drive? Did it feel like a sports car? I'm always amazed how great it feels to have new tires.

Very, very bad. You missed a few posts.

Cisco is mentally incapable of sulking, though. He's basically Odie.

Van handles a LOT better on corners. I noticed that, for sure.

As for the package...I just wish the postal system was more efficient, that's all.

Oh - never mind, I see it about the bulbs.

Did he eat them, or just uproot them? can you put them back in the ground? I've got an extra fence charger (Fido-shock brand, I always loved that), we could run a low wire around your beds. The good news is, if he learns to fear the wire, you can put wire around darn near anything you don't want him in.

I *think* he just dug them up. I saw loose bulbs, but didn't have the heart to count them. Granted, daffodil bulbs are cheap this time of year. Even if they're lost causes, I *could* probably buy another bag for half price right now.

Hm...wonder if the charger would do it. I don't know how I'd plug one in, though - I have no power on that side of the house.

I know it would work, he's not gonna dig if he can't be there without getting zapped :~) Do you have outside power anywhere? Extension cord would work. Or we can rig it off one of those light fixtures even, I've got a dealy that can convert a light socket into a plug. Collect your bulbs or buy some more and if you want, we can do it this weekend.

I *might* have outside power in the back. Can't remember. I can do a walk-around and figure it out.

Ungh...I feel like it's bedtime right now and I still have an hour before I have to head back to work. I just don't do evenings very well.
