I imagine the cats will put the puppies in their place in pretty short order.

I'm back...went on a bit of a shopping spree in honor of my birthday next week. Nothing too exciting...mostly the pair of shoes I needed for work and a few other such things. Also got a Great Big Sea CD - woo-hoo! And had a good mocha and did some writing.

I changed the bag in the vacuum cleaner.

Happy early birthday! Great Big Sea is awesome. Which cd did you get? The puppies are out in the yard lounging in the sunw atching Talon put up trellis to block the hole between the house and the neighbor's fence.

Got "Great Big Sea Live in Concert"...which I *kinda* had on my computer (thanks to Talon...or Empress...or somebody), but I figured I'd legalize it...

Heh...I kinda felt guilty when Chris was here and we were comparing favorite Great Big Sea songs and I actually didn't know what albums I had...just songs.

It also comes with a DVD with music videos and concert footage and stuff, too, though. For no more than the cost of the CD. So that's pretty cool.

Cool. That is a nice cd. But, um, yeah, now it's legal and not a third hand copy.

I think I was missing a few of the songs, too. And the music videos and all are a nice bonus.

So, I'm back from rehearsal. Our shows kinda run in cycles, so unlike last year when I had a significant role, this year I'm back to ~two~ "pretzel" roles. Which is actually okay.

I sat down to have some late lunch and the doorbell rang. I am not making this story up.

Two young African American men where there. They were selling some kind of cleaning product, so the spokesman made some finger prints on the stormdoor glass and cleaned them off. He kept trying to be cool, everything was rhyming, then he high fived me a couple of times.

He was halfway (I hope) through his "presentation" when the impact of what he first asked me sunk in.

Sam "greeted" him at the door with his usual ferocious bark. Then of course he's all lab-friendly.

But the spokesguy said to me "Does your dog like dark meat?"

I swear the first thing I thought was that he was one of those guys that sell frozen steaks from the back of a truck.

FWIW, I didn't buy anything.

Just finished watching The Piano. It was pretty good! I love the music; the 'theme' is just haunting!

Sitting here listening to a chamber ensemble paying out on the beach. Someone's getting married down there this evening; I guess about 6:00. They must be timing it to try to catch the sunset. It's pretty breezy, though. So t, we'll have some live music from over at the Beach Club next door!

When did it become the 'thing' to wear black to weddings? Half the women are wearing either all black or black and white, or champagne, or something like that.

Meet Valance and Neutron, the lab puppies.

Two very cute pups soon to be known, in true Hobbit fashion, as "Lance" and "Newt", I'm sure. ;)

Well, today we made our more-or-less annual trip to San Antonio to get our eyes checked. Rose didn't need new glasses, but I do... getting bifocals for the first time. :-/

Good Afternoon ALL: Recipe for an enjoyable afternoon includes a sunny fall day, a Boy Scout Troop, tree round targets, a couple dozen or so throwin' 'hawks, miscellaneous bows and arrows, muskets and a muzzleloading cannon. Good Time. Those scouts did enjoy themselves, they'll be camping overnight at the range and doubtless be up half the night, ah, that's the night shift's worry.

They are probably half the size they'll be when they're grown... less. They're only three months old and they are retrivers so they will be good sized dogs.

Three toilet accidents so far today and a little jumping-up behavior to be corrected but nothing unreasonable and Alpha Cat even ventured out while they were napping in the living room

Heh, thanks! I'm actually looking forward to getting them, because for some time it's been a real bother reading a book while watching television (which I like to do.) I've had to take my glasses off to read, then put them on to see the television. Hoping the bifocals will fix that problem!

You'll be surprised how great bifocals are once you get used to them, first few days are 'different' to say the least. I had to raise my 'puter screen at work so as not to get crick in my neck.

The computer screen will be interesting... I have generally preferred my screen to be low on my desk, but then I also slouch in my chair quite a lot, so I may not have to adjust it too much for the new glasses.
