Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Mawwage is what bwings us togethew today!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Nah, I didn't. Sesame seeds in stir fry but that's another matter.

I don't think they test for sesame... :~)

I kept getting up last night.

Ungh.

I need an off switch for my brain. *And* the pets.

At the company in CO they let me start within a day of the drug test...so I'd think you're set to go if they're ready for ya.

Can't help with your brain though...

Dang, that's ugly.

Mostly I just need the brain switch, though. If I sleep, they sleep...if I toss and turn, they start running around and talking. Vicious cycle.

Just how common is this drug testing thing? Phooey. I don't think I'd apply at such a place unless I was running some very heavy machinery and they could justify it. They get me all day, they don't get my bodily fluids too.

They could have at least made it furry :~)

Most bigger places or corporate places (like recruiting companies) do it as a matter of course. So do pretty much any retail job places. My little brother had to do a drug test before starting at Kinko's.

Fake fur isn't that pricey!

It's kinda scary looking as is.

Only time I've ever had to take a pre-employment drug screening was for a summer job at a storm door factory. Made sense there because I was going to be working with heavy industrial machinery.

I'd have a problem with taking one for a retail or office-type job. It's the principle of the thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were state laws about it for companies with over a certain number of employees. In states like CA, I mean.

Not saying it makes sense...just sayin' is all.

Apparently it came back negative for poppy seeds. The recruiter is talking to the company now. She'll let me know when to show up as soon as she knows...

Hair, the internship I had this summer made me do the same thing. I think it's just standard these days.

Whee! I got my Iowa license. New name on it and everything. It's very slightly less hideous than the CO one and it only took 30 minutes total, a hugh improvement over the CO DOT people.

Unnnnngh...I left my coffee on the counter at home.

Are we *sure* this is Friday and not Monday? It sure feels like a Monday.

Aye, Iowa DOT is nice and fast all the time. Probably because the license place and the place to get tags for a car are two different places.

Yaa! New name all official and stuff :-D

Maybe we'll go steal it and drink it...

We don't have much coffee of our own here.

Guess that's one more reason to be glad I'm doing consulting now. :)

I'm just not sure why a company would care whether their web developer had a poppy-seed bagel for breakfast.
