Rypien was not a one hit wonder. The Skins kept Williams around too long. Actually the season that the Skins won the SB, they rotated Schroeder and Williams...neither could get the job done and Joe could not decide. Doug never did a thing to help his cause as both him and Jay would look great and than look like crap. Williams flat out sucked the next year 88 and lived on his amazing 2Q against the Broncos reputation. In 89 Williams had back surgery and they bought out Rypien who did pretty good. Williams was ready to play against Dallas late in the season...at the time Dallas was winless(Johnson's 1st year) Williams could not do squat and I kept thinking even with 10 minutes left...just bring Rypien in even though they were down 17-3. I was pissed thinking that we could've helped Dallas go winless in 89.

Rypien had a good 90 and almost led Washington to an undefeated season in 91....we lost the absurd game to Dallas at RFK and week 16 to Philly (meaningless). Rypien had two more good seasons, but just got too slow afoot and started getting banged up.

He was Washington's last good QB. Shraeder and Williams drove me too the funny farm.

what you mean you don't consider Heath Shuler and Jeff George as good QBs? :)

Considering I was 8 9 and 10 years old in that timeframe, I'll go with what you say on this subject.

I just seem to remember that Rypien won that one SuperBowl and then didn't hear much about him.

Of course, the next year it was Dallas Dallas Dallas 100% of the time, so there wasn't much room in the media for anyone else unfortunately....
