SNYDER, Okla. -- An Oklahoma police chief's job is in jeopardy and his town is in an uproar because of his wife's profession.
Snyder Police Chief Tod Ozmun and his wife, Doris, live in Snyder, just west of Lawton. However, the chief's wife is known worldwide for her work as a plus-sized model on a pornographic Web site.
Officials said the Snyder mayor is requesting an investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Technically, the mayor cannot request an OSBI investigation. However, the district attorney's office can, and officials said the focus of any such investigation would be to determine whether city computers were used for the pictures and if that violates the city's charter.
"This came to light because some of the people in town went onto the Internet to download pictures of her and started passing them out around the citizens here in town," said Mayor Dale Moore.
Moore said he's trying to decide what's best for Snyder -- to keep a chief who many believe doesn't share their morals or to fire a man who's keeping residents safe.
"He's done more drug arrests, solved more crimes than anybody else in town has ever done," Moore said.
Resident Bryan Norton said he wants the chief fired.
"When our kids come home from school telling us that the chief's wife is a porno queen, how do you answer that?" said Norton.
Well, a new hairstyle and a nice smile wouldn't hurt.
Tweezers or a severe mental illness.
I am just having a lot of fun :D !
I do disagree that moral underpinnings are unenforceable in a position of trust. Just because certain behaviors are legal does not mean that they are compatible with every job available. The devil, of course, is in the details. As far as anyone else knows at this point however, the guy may be in an Amos position. (Wasn't Amos the profit who God told to marry a whore?)
He may have been begging his wife to knock it off for years and just worrying over the day that it all gets turned up.
She may be working under cover (I wish under more cover) in some way that helps make certain arrests.
At any rate, if he has used police property to generate the stuff. C-YAAAA! The article probably should have read that the mayor couldn't "order" the investigation. I am quite sure he can request anything he wants.
Actually my answer at 122 comes out sounding like a Karnak gag:
Carson, with envelope to his head: "Tweezers, or severe mental illness"
Opens envelope: How could you gratify yourself to this picture? (barfs on desk)
ok, legally, what has he done wrong?
unless he's used government property for his own gain, i don't see anything he's done legally wrong.
i understand it may be morally wrong- depending on your personal standards. but as long as he upholds the law, i don't see where the issue is. also, you know as well as i do that there is a VERY good chance he'll sue if he's fired. taxpayers should also consider that.
"Specifically he has completely abdicated his moral responsibilities as a husband by permitting his wife to engage in such degenerate behavior."
Permitting, eh? Perhaps you are not married. I don't "permit" my wife to do or not to do anything. That's not my job.
Nothing.
Are you arguing that employers can only fire people if they break the law?
also, you know as well as i do that there is a VERY good chance he'll sue if he's fired. taxpayers should also consider that.
That would be an expensive way to receive the definitive confirmation of their judgment of his character, but it may be a price they are willing to pay.
Uh... into slavery much?
I'm with you. Too many people spend too much time minding other people's business. What she's doing, while sleazy, is legal and has nothing to do with his work.
I also have to wonder how many people are less offended by her nudity than they are by her girth. She's fat. She's naked. BFD.
I am indeed married.
My wife has made it abundantly clear to me that there are things she will not tolerate if we are to continue our relationship and she knows there are things I will not tolerate.
However, since we were both raised correctly, almost all of our disagreements revolve around exactly how many sporting events can be watched on a given day and what level of expensive and superfluous home "improvements" we really need.
"Because employers have a right to require dignity and competence from their employees."
But she is not their employee. If they fire him, he will sue for wrongful termination, and win. HE has done nothing wrong.
No. Certainly not as much as you are into putting words in people's mouths.
People with self-respect have limits as to how much disrespect they are willing to absorb from another person before they end the relationship.
Rather smug of you, my friend.
That's not the issue. The issue is his judgment.
If they fire him, he will sue for wrongful termination, and win.
He may. He may not.
"My wife has made it abundantly clear to me that there are things she will not tolerate if we are to continue our relationship and she knows there are things I will not tolerate.
"
That's a different ball of wax. Perhaps the Police Chief and his wife have a different arrangement. That would be their right, as long as they don't break the law, correct?
That should be what the police chief is judged on.
Not really. You have to be very careful in choosing a spouse. The number one requirement: good values.
